Default Got into an accident last nite....have a *** question

Hey guys, I have a noob question.....first what happened:
I was in an accident yesterday, some dumb lady was tailgating another car, the car hit the brakes for whatever reason and she cut left to avoid hitting him. By doing that her car lost control and she was swerving and and out of the interstate lanes. I was behind, saw her swerving so i was able to slow down. While still going though, she went off the highway into the median area (grass/dirt) but instead of staying there, she swerved back into the highway and hit me.
Here are some pics of the damage, looks mostly the bumper but also the hood doesn't close either and there's a gab in between the fender and hood (almost like the hood was shifted to one side...)
The noob question is: Is there any way to tell if there's any frame damage? Do our cars even have a frame (my old car was unibody and they said therefore had no frame)?
I want to be prepared for when her insurance company comes in that they dont try to pull a fast one on me.
Thanks !!

Car is a unibody. Dmg looks like it is what it is. I cant tell if the headlight is cracked, but you need a fender and bumper. Also cant tell if the hood is bent. Time to get some carbon fiber.

Lol thats the equivalent of being sent home for getting shot in the foot. Doesn't look like it caused any real damage other than cosmetics.

Great excuse to get some aftermarket parts coutesy of insurance

Make sure you pull off all the pannels and check everything underneath, just incase.

The damage doesnt look severe enough to be considered "frame" damaged. Cosmetic damagae looks about 1-2k to replace, fix, blend in paint etc. Price for headlights shipped to 06405 please? jkk..sucks to see the car like that but if you see someone loosing control like that I would gtfo of there asap and not wait to get hit..just my 2 cents though.

i think he could get a higher estimate than just 1-2k... you can tell them you need a bumper, wheel liner, fender, hood, any supports under and behind the bumper that might just have a little scratch, you might even be able to get a passenger side fender if the bumper is ppushing up on it, and definetly a headlight, cause the brackets might be cracked... hit them up for 3-4k would be more realistic, and get some nice parts that you like... GL and sorry to hear that...

Normally, insurance companies will let you get your own estimates. Choose wisely and you should be O.K.

Ya youre right. I keep thinking no police was involved and there is no report so thus hed pay it himself. whupsss The lady is at fault so it doesn't really matter. He should get as big of an estimate as possible than

She propbably smacked the reinforcement for the thront bumper, which is bolted to bumper stays (peice of metal that will deform upon impact) which those are bolted to the frame ends (unibody is a type of chassis). Also behind the reinforcement is the core support for the radiator, also holds the hood lock and serveral other items.

From the way the pics look its plausible core support is broken. But yes there could be frame damage which would be minor. Find a quality body shop and they will set you straight on what your Z needs.

Damage doesn't look too bad- take the front bumper off and check it out for yourself if you're really that curious.

Body shops almost always find "hidden damage" when they start pulling panels/bumpers so don't accept any type of settlement until the work is done. And don't be afraid to be as difficult as necessary with her insurance company - you owe them nothing. Don't need to be an asshat - just insist on them returning your car to exact condition it was before the crash.

Thanks! I went to get an estimate and it was 2,829... seems they will have to replace like you said the fender, bumper, possible the headlight as well, radiator support, radiator lower cover, hood hinges...
I called the girl's insurance , they say i cant take the car to the shop or anything until they talk to their client...i mean damn this girl hasn't even reported it! Hopefully they'll call me back later today. I had a similar issue with my old car and they "couldn't get a hold of their client" for about 3 weeks...
As far as avoiding the hit like someone mentioned, there wasn't much i could have done. I had cars next to me so i couldn't move to the next lane and i didn't want to go in the median cos she was spinning in the median at that time. I could only go straight, that's when she moved off the median an in front of me. I barely had time to slow down so the impact wouldn't be as hard...

thats nothing, but its def something a bad shop can f up.... just bring it to a good reputable shop and have them fix it... make sure they give you the proper amount of clear and paint, Lately I have seen more and more cars coming outta body shops with less than stellar paint jobs...

Be a pain in the *** to the shop, because than they will know that you are going to look over and complain about anything not done correctly...

I was rear ended and the shop had my car for a week, they gave it back with the tunk not aligned correctly and the bumper was painted terrible, i could see the bumper covers material in some areas where they went very very light on the paint... I went right back in and complained, two days later my g is PERFECT. I asked why they did not do it right the first time, and I got oh i had a new guy paint it remark.... suuurreeeeee....

Now i know if my g is ever in a shop, i will call to check up on the work while its there, its your 30k investment and car no one cares about it as much as you, so just make sure they know what you want and that you wont settle for anything less than a perfect fix.

But your damage is certainly not anything to worry about...

Thanks, makes me feel better...hopefully it will all work out soon, I have a trip in 2 and a half weeks and i would hate to still be dealing with this then... and yes I'll be a pain in the *** with the shop, im really OCD when it comes to my car.
The only thing that is worrying me is this girl has not called her insurance yet! I mean it was last nite she's had a whole day and she still hasn't called them? They have tried to call her but they told me they still "haven't been able to get a hold of her"..till that happens I can't do anything.

Did you file a police report? I would its better to be the first one to file it if she files one first and lies and says it was your fault it becomes he said she said with out witness to back you up. You could get the short end of the stick.

Throw a GT Spec brace under your fenders while they are off

That damage definitely doesn't look bad enough to damage the frame. Good luck!
