Any new news on all those Z's sitting at the Newark or Newport News ports??

not yet. i keep checking the dealers in eastern VA on nissandriven and none have the z's on their inventory yet. Its killing me, i have a very low vin # and only live 120 miles from newport news. I thought I read this weekend someone saw a truck of z's in northern VA headed to DC? I hoped we would have seen them in NC by now!

 

Just called my dealer......... He said im on the first ship. He didnt know it had landed, but he said if it did indeed land it will be here in a week and a half! So im assuming the first East coast Z's will be here Sept 1st or so? What the exact day that ship arrived i forgot?

I haven't seen one in Detroit or in Northeastern Indiana yet either and believe me... I was looking.

 

NONE of the Preordered Z's have shipped from Newport News to the dealers yet. A single Z was taken to Fairfax VA for dealer training. Additionally, the car carriers (at least some of them) had to be modified because of the low clearance of the Z (I am glad they are being careful but the delay is killing me). I will post the day the first carrier leaves with Zs.

Concerning those in Newport News, I believe they arrived on 8/21. This would be just about right for me because if it takes 1.5 weeks, my September 4th delivery date is right in that time window.

btw...I've been checking dealer inventory list also w/in 100 miles of me..no Z's.

Actually, and this may sound strange, but I would rather take delivery next week because for the rest of the week, they are predicting rainy weather. I want the day I pick up my car to be nice.

A car carrier left NNMT at 3:09pm but I couldn't make out what type of cars were on it. I reached for my magnifying glass, about 2 steps away and when I got back the screen had updated and the truck was gone. Subaru's also ship out of this terminal so don't get excited yet.

 

Is there a live video feed of the port or something?

Sweet! Now I have something to keep myself busy with at work... hehe

 

1st ship arrived at Port Newark on 8/23. 2nd batch of cars appears to have arrived either that afternoon, or Saturday. All told, there appears to be a LOT more than the initial 300 received the morning of the 23rd.

No cars have left the prep lot yet. No trailers in sight yet.

I'll keep you guys posted with pics and video.

 

Whew.....ok...just got off the phone, the cars will start heading out tomorrow. I was told to expect mine still by the 28th but it could be late in the day. Sounds like the next shipment of Zs is on the way to the port and they need the room.

Does anyone know when the second batch of cars is due into Newport News? My dealer said today that they got no cars from the first batch at NN. I am still due in by mid-Sept, but they still have no VIN for me....

 

Today I actually got a chance to see the new 350Z. I went to one of my local nissan dealerships and they just received delivery on the pre-orders today here in the Clearwater-Tampa Bay area. They had about 7 Z's there in the back. One of the people were nice enough to have taken me in the back where they were holding hte cars. Only bad thing was, I wasn't able to open and look at the interior, had to peek through the windows. Dealer said that they wont be selling them till the beginning of the years 2003, but the dealer said that I could still preorder mine if I wanted to. The Lemans looks really really nice. Scary thing is, my dad is now thinking about buying one for himself. He said he's waitng for the convertible to come out. Hmm, maybe my dad and I could exchange cars every other day or something, that would be cool. But the dealer was extremely nice and answered all my questions. Lucky guys who got those cars ordered... I was drooling and had an audience of people watching me go stir crazy!

Contacted my dealer in Baltimore today. He is still sticking to the Sept. 6 delivery date...plus or minus 4 days based on previous experience. I guess this fits if the cars start to move in the next few days.

 

Hey MBEGUY: Is there any way to find out if my Z was in this first batch of NN cars or if it is coming in the second batch?

Please don't tell me I have to watch that web cam again!!!

 

If I can find a old black pontiac firebird, with T-Tops, and a big'ol Firebird on the hood, I can run shotgun for those trucks. You wanna talk about some fun, I can just see tha on I-95 south doing 100+ .
