i bought my 08 Z enthusiast stick with 5k miles for $21K about 3 months, so 03 should be lower than $14k for sure.

For 20k I'd rather get an '07 for the HR motor.

Don't waste your money.
You really bought your 2008 base model for only $24,000? This pisses me off because When I came home from Iraq last year in may, I bought my 2008 350 for $31,000. Ohh maan

If it was me and I had to choose between 07 enthusiast and 05 touring I would definitely go for the 07. But I guess it all depends on what you're chasing.

The 05 touring will have power/leather seats, bose sound system, optional navigation, LSD, TCS, and the VDC. Basically you get more luxury but you get the older DE engine, which is not quite as good/refined as the new HR. Its not a BAD engine, but the HR is better/faster. BTW you get TCS on all years and models except the base Z.

The 07 enthusiast wont have the power/leather seats, bose, navigation, or the VDC. Basically it will have less luxury but all the performance things you need and more, because of the HR. Plus in 07 the Z got the revised suspension, which is much better than the one in 03-06. You get the HR engine, which is more refined, smoother, revs higher, has more power, and in my opinion, has much better power delivery, you get most of your torque starting from like 3.5k RPM all the way 7-7.5k RPM. A lot of problems that the older Z's had like tire-feathering, grinding gears, and oil consumption (mostly 05-06) are fixed on 07 and up, though some people have had oil consumption problems with their 07s-08s, but a very small amount.

Like I said, in the end it all depends on what you're looking for. Go test drive both cars and see which one you like better. Though, I think its pretty safe to say that for the most part 07-08 year models will be more reliable.

*VDC is more of a safety thing than performance/luxury thing, together with the TCS they assist you in the prevention of loss of control (spinning out..etc) of your car. If you're driving like an idiot, no TCS or VDC will save you from crashing, I had to learn that the hard way.

If you are still asking questions like this then you aren't ready to buy. There is great information here as to the differences between the models and between the model years. Do some more searching.

Personally, I'd avoid an '03. There are inexpensive, lower mileage Zs out there in the '04 and up years.

No problem, man. I'm glad to help.

Yea, the 07s-08s are awesome. The HR engine is the bomb. The only downside of the HR that I can think of is that there are not as much aftermarket modifications out for it at the moment, there are a couple of twin turbo kits for it. I don't think there are any single turbo kits out for it right now, though, same goes for the superchargers. There are plenty intakes/exhausts and small things like that, though.

In my opinion, after trying out both, the difference between the DE and the HR is like night and day, the HR is a much better engine.

It sounds decent to me, but I'm not the person to be asked about prices, though. I got my car a couple of months after the 07 came out and my car had 8 miles on it when I picked it up, because I didn't really feel like getting one off of the floor that already 200-400 miles on it, I wanted it as fresh as possible, since I was getting it brand new. I went from dealer to dealer getting a lower quote every time, and I haggled a lot with the final dealership the I got it from, too. I ended paying 29,6xx.xx for my car, while most people would pay 32-33k out of the door at the time. Since I got my car I haven't really been following up on the prices. 2007 Touring Z would be dope, though. With the leather and bose and everything...

Is it manual or auto?
