SCC Review.. Read it right here.
They also said it has 10.5" rear discs which is wrong they are 11.5" and on page 94 talks of needing a replacement from an aftermarket supplier to replace the silicone viscous coupling. The base model has mechanical coupling standard on it's posi traction.
Cmon guys, don't you thik they are trying to make the Z look mediocre. I mean in the first part of the review they make it sound like nobody has ever heard of or doesn't give a crap about any Nissan Z car.

yeah, all in all SCC has come a long way from when I started reading it almost ten years ago(back then you would still see Ford escort GTs in there
) and they really do alot more than other mags do, after all who else actually puts every car they review on a dyno? The results they got from putting a the new miata and sentra SE-R that they published were actually insturmental in getting mazda and nissan to revise their advertised horsepower! Pretty ballsy for guys that has both those car makers ads in thier mag. If you read the NVH department in July's Automobile magazine it gives a bit of insight on how car journalist pull thier punches a bit in respect to advertising income. Also, what other mag would get a car delivered to them just to review, and then promptly tear it down and try to tune it in a day? Even if they weren't completely succesful, its at least pretty ambitious and gives us a good idea of how good a job nissan did from the factory. I think a few mistakes can be dismissed, besides it was pretty cool to see what a lowered 350Z looks like before I have even seen one on the street!
They're biased?
I've been reading this mag for over a year now, and I'm amazed at the number of people that say that they're biased against Nissans/for Hondas. Read the rest of the magazine for a little while before you make a remark like that. They have project cars and last time I checked they had almost twice the number of Nissan project cars as Hondas. Sure, custom Hondas get into the magazine more often, but I think that's just because of the higher percentage of Honda tuners out there.
Furthermore, these people seem to know their stuff. I read it to learn about things I don't know, and I have my father (who was a mechanic, albeit on airplanes) ensure accuracy. So far I haven't come across a faulty technical article.
I thought it was a postive article and I noticed in another article they were talking about going to an ill-suited track to test a project car. That could have been the reason for such (perceived) slow times 0-60 and through the quarter for the Nissan. Merely speculation.

Looks like they tried to bolt on whatever the advertizers in their magazine could supply in short notice. What a cluster! Backfired in the face. Come on stop-tech drakes? A ..... you can get the car with brembos? Im surprized they did not put one of those $69.95 supercharge/turbonator gismos claiming 35+ hp gain things on the intake like the ads claim in the back section of the mag. Who ever is going to make aftermarket parts that are positive better prove it. One good thing about SCC the did show the exhaust mod was a waste.
Good review, more detailed than most I have read. They mentioned a problem with the elect. throttle and the brake.
"One problem we found with the car's dynamics is in the programming of the electronic throttle. Touch the brakes at full throttle and the engine practically shuts down. This keeps advanced drivers from using proper left foot braking techniques and keeps advanced hot dogs from doing big-burn-holes-in-the-asphalt burnouts. We only achieved this month's cover shot by unplugging the brake light switch."
Any of you guys that already have your try heal toeing or left foot braking??? One probably won't full throttle heal toe, but you never know.

I also thought the review was pretty positive. This is definately a Honda bias Magazine though. I wasn't quite sure what to make of the article with the mods to the 350Z. I was a little concerned about them saying that with the fatter rubber the inside wheel was spinning around turns. ?. That would indicate that the stock LSD is very weak.? They hadn't even done any power upgrades. The whole thing was kind of a cludge, but I am happy that they are/ and want to fiddle with the car. It was a little like reading a modders trial and error log. I did find it a better read then the same old review articles. We will definately see some better mod articles from them about the 350Z in the future.
"The point is, people like the look of the new Z-car. We like it, too, from most angles, but the funky door handles and the way the car swallows its wheels and tires keeps us from loving it. Our tester wore the standard 17-inch rubber, which look like 15-inchers in the depths of all that bodywork. Three of the five models (see sidebar)--the Performance Model, the Touring Model with the six-speed and the Track Model--come standard with 18-inch rollers, which look better, but still don't really fill the wheel wells. It seems a wider track or a deeply dished wheel is essential to getting the 350Z looking right."
First off, I have the Enthu. w/17's and I'm VERY impressed with the way they look, much better then in person. And I'm sorry, but WTF are they comparing this car too? I don't undertand? WHAT in the WORLD competes with this car on looks alone??? TT? SC430? God no....
" A roadster version will hit dealers soon after the New York Jets win Super Bowl XXXVII." OHHHHH. They are smoking crack. This explains EVERYTHING.
