Default 06 350z out of the bodyshop after 70+ days!!!

My car was in an accident on Fed. 8 in which the passenger side mirror, passenger side fender, and the bumper were all damaged. My rim was also scratched too. So that day i take it to a couple body shops and they all give me about the same estimate which is $2,500. So i notify my insurance company of the accident and they tell me i can put it in any body shop i please. So i put her in a body shop my nissan dealer recommended because they only use nissan parts to fix the car. After about 3 weeks i call to check up on the car and they have not begun. My insurance company refuses to pay the total amount so they pay what they believe they should pay. After fighting with the insurance company for another month or so i finally decide to pull the car out the shop using my own $. I have already talked to my state insurance commissioner about they situation and they are going to handle it. So basically my insurance company owes me $1300, a new rim, and my last 2 months of insurance that i paid. So the car goes in about 5 days after the accident and 70 days later it comes out. (sorry for the long message i tried to give as much information without making it too long)

P.S.- on the way home a chick is staring at my car so i look at her and she asks if it is mine and i tell her yea and she gives me a thumbs up

Yup i sure did give them the estimate.... they believe that the estimate is too high so they only paid for what they believed it should have cost to fix it. I've gotten about 3 estimates from different body shops and they are all within about $2,500...

damn, that sucks. some chick hit my parked car on Easter and it sounds like I had similar damage. I had to repair the driver side quarter panel and a scratched rim and it cost 2,238.82 and insurance didn't seem to mind. But it wasn't my insurance, because it was her fault. I just got my car back today.

here is my estimate

My insurance is being really sneaky though because it has been really hard for the bodyshop and I to get into contact with them and then when they say they are going to do something it doesn't happen for like 2 weeks. i am changing insurances this week...i am no longer payin them to do close to nothin.... im just glad my Z is back its been weird with out her for 70+ days

The thread has been updated with before and after pictures.
Currently my 06 350Z has a injen intake but that is all. Within the next couple of months i will be purchasing coilovers (dont know which ones yet), TP's, custom magnaflow exhuast, and maybe a K&N typhoon. Hopefully by the end of the year i will have the money to go FI but we will c.

Yeah, fixing your car through the body shop can be a quite a lengthy process. Congratulations on getting it back!!! Trust me, I know the feeling of being without it, its terrible. When I was working on my car every time I would see a Z on the road, I would get so upset, and jealous/envy, like damn "he's driving his Z, I want to drive mine too!!!" Everything looks good, too. The gaps and the paint, look like they're supposed to.

Congrats man!!!

EDIT: First day on the road after getting it fixed, I washed it real nice, and the car was looking great, the weather was awesome too. Some girl at the light asked me what kind of car was it, after which I told that it was a Nissan 350Z, and she was "Very, very nice." I was ecstatic.

Congrats on getting it back.

GL with the insurance, I would recommend a more reputable insurer in the future.

I've had Mercury for 15 years and have had no problems.
