Default Trunk mat

Does the Z come with a trunk mat as pictured here:
http://www.ultimatez.com/350zperf.html

or was it just an option when ordering?

All mats are an option. The one for the Frost interior is butt ugly and doesn't even match.

...and the "floot mats" option does not include the trunk mat, right?

Default Standard Trunk mat vs. Z trunk mat

This is a good question regarding the trunk mat. I saw 2 Z's. One had a regular trunk matt (nicely fitted)..but with no "Z" letter on it and a thin edge knitting. And I saw another with the "Z" logo on it and a thick edge knitting.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the car comes with a regular sub-standard mat to cover the spare tire compartment area...and the custom "Z" matt is an optional on the order?

Yup I inspected the mats on the Z at Courtesy. The regular mat is still there if you get the embroidered, optional one. That one just goes on top, so you get two mats. Looks great on the carbon cloth interior.

Is the original matt removable to make room for the custom one?

I ordered the optional floor mats, but didn't get the trunk mat and now I wish I did. The stock mat just sits there on the slippery plastic tire well cover, and it can slide around quite easily. This is a problem because I often carry around a heavy computer. To prevent it sliding around, I put down a thick rubber welcome mat. But now the computer doesn't slide, the rubber mat doesn't slide, but the 350Z's floor mat slides around and gets all bent out of shape! I think maybe the optional mat is thicker and doesn't slide around so much. (I'm going to try to get one of those thin grippy perforated mats and put it between the trunk mat and the floor. Better that than using velcro or two-sided tape to stick it down.)

I guess you could remove the original mat and just use the optional one, but it looked fine having them stacked. You wouldn't even know the other one was underneath from looking at it. If you didn't order one, Courtesy has them in stock right now to buy:

Have you considered a Suburban?

I'm planning on hauling ***, not cargo. It's a Sports Car. I'll repeat, It's a Sports Car.

Sometimes I wonder????????

(why has this reply moved up, out of sequence?)

The picture of the trunk mat show how much trunk space is wasted because of the stupid idea of the strut brace in the hatch area. Its cool right now but in a year or two people will be wishing for more space.

Stupid idea? Would you rather have the car creaking on every bump and losing performance because of body flex? If you need a lot of trunk space, you don't buy a Z period. As long as it can hold one golf bag or my computer so I can take it to lan parties thats all I need. Plus I think it looks good and adds character and style to the car.

InternetABYSS:

No pics available. I was surpised they opened the car up since it was still going through PDI. For the first time I was able to see the Frost interior in person and must say that I was very dissappointed. None of the colors seemed to match or even blend well. Even as good as the pics have been on this site they really don't tell the story. To me it looks like they just emptied out some leftover parts bins. There isn't one color in there that has the color of frost, IMHO.

There are 4 colors and then the optional cargo mat.

-Wet sand (definately in the brown tones) for the dash & body panels
-Grey for the center waterfall
-Egg shell white for the seats (maybe what they consider "frost") with black backs
-Black front carpet

The rear mat appeared to be medium sand or beige but clearly had a rosy tint to it. It wasn't even close in color to the standard fabric or even the body panels. I hope it was just a bad dye job for a small run of carpet.

Initially I was going to get Chrome/Frost but glad I changed.

Abyss,

I saw the Frost interior at my dealer Saturday. The truck mat color is the same as the one in the picture at your site. The color is matching the color of the truck, light grey. So, don't worry for nothing. I wish the carpet and floor mat in the front are matching the grey in the trunk, but they are black.

I don't know what the hell ZWINDSOR was talking about.

When you disagree with someone do you always curse them?

As I said it was my opinion based on what I saw.

FYI, the salesperson also agreed the mat color didn't match. Maybe there ARE different shades, who's to say....you! Did you even stop to think that the lighting may have been different between my view and your's. The one I saw was inside the shop area with weak florescent lights. Maybe it looks more gray when in sunlight or washed out with camera flashes.

True, I don't like what Nissan perceives as Frost but to each their own.
