I actually test drove the Z first, prior to driving like 6 other make/models, and the Z was always in my mind. : P

looks for now. when its paid off and I am a bit older? performance. it's not going to be worth **** in trade in so I might as well pay it off and make it a track car.
Well put.
Like you, I looked at and test drove several at/around the same time as the Z and kept thinking about the Z.

when i first got the Z i specifically bought it for the looks and a what performance it had. Being around M3's, STI's , Built Rx7's i knew the power was the weak point but it was the perfect balance that sold me. First year went into exhaust, intake, manifold lights, brakes.. This year it's all body, wheels and suspension. Next year will hopefully bring some boost!

i bought my Z for its complete package. If I were to mod anything it would be to improve the longevity of such a fine vehicle.

Absolutely the performance, which was okay stock but much better now. I like the looks, too, but it was the performance that got me. Except for being lower, mine looks stock. No tickets in 3 years.

Did my suspension first, then got RA1's for the track. I'm running with turbo porches and most anything else at Buttonwillow HPDE events, just because I can corner faster. Exit speed makes up for a lot of horsepower.

Horsepower is next.

I'd be less than honest if I said anything but show when talking about my 06 ZR. I mean the extra weight of the top and the automatic alone hampers racing it. So while I have put an exhaust, an intake, to improve the sound of it and a spoiler on it too, that's about all I have done performance wise. Yet my count for mods is around 20. So I guess you could say - even though its a daily driver - I am showing it off every time I turn the key...

As is, by a mile.... my buddy dropped $15K for his turbo and other goodies with it. Now wrecked, he will not see that $15K again.

I would have to say both. The looks pulled me in. I am not buying a car I don't like the looks of.

I had my 280ZX in for service saw a 350 and decided to test drive it. Over the next 2-3 months I test drove several cars and it always came back to I liked the Z for looks and it had more than enough performance to get in trouble. Being well balanced sold me.

I spent a while reading reliability reports and forums before I bought. It's my daily driver for work and I run errands in it, doesn't get a lot mileage and with the way Nissan builds engines I will have it for a long time although the 370 is sooo tempting.
