Default How much faster is a Non-Base Z over a Base?

I'm sure you guys can help me answer this question. Since the Base doesnt have LSD, how much of an edge does the non-Base model Z's have over the Base if any?
thanks

depends what model, enthusiast and track prolly have an edge, performance and touring, probably not.

the edge would only be on the launch more or less. the base doesnt really suffer in a performance standpoint, all its missing is the LSD, it takes the hit more in features.

my first run with my base i ran a 14.2@100 my buddy with his track ran a 14.1@101 so a little differnce but he has the ability to launch a little harder than me I do have an lsd on its way so we will be running close to the same on te quartermile the advantage of the base model is that its a little lighter so with an after market lsd it is actually a little better off

I ran a 14.1 with the touring, Id imagine both base and track are able to do a little better than that, my first time at the track too in cold temps on stock tires. keep goin, you can do better no doubt.

Actually, the Track and Performance(hence, the name) models are the best PERFORMING of the bunch. The enthusiast comes after, then the base. The touring is the slowest due to the added weight(It's basically the performance model with an extra 50 pounds of non-performance enhancing weight.)

thanks guys, you've helped me a lot. I'm killing myself here looking for the right Z for me. According to my budget of course. I guess i'll be aiming for an Enthusiast. It has everything i need.

I think you've made the right decision, because it's the same one I made last year, and I'm still perfectly happy with it.

respectfully disagree, enthusiast has lighter rims than the performance, albiet smaller, size does not matter(atleast in terms of speed anyway ) it does still have LSD as well as a lighter overall curb weight. only model I think is slower than performance is touring, dont let nissans names mislead you to their actual performance.

I understand. However, the Track model weighs more than the Performance model(though the wheels are lighter, the brembos are heavier). I figured since the both the track and performance models have high-performance wheels and tires, without the weight of luxury(Touring) they would outperform un-modded base and enthusiast models. It's all good, though. Most of the models differ only slightly from each other in terms of performance, anyway. Take it easy guys!!

well according to my budget I'll either be looking into a base or enthusiast. Really leaning towards an enthusiast but if i can find a base for dirt cheap than thats a different story. any sellers? VERY prefferably Pikes Peak White. Budget is no more than $25k. Please let me know if you guys run across any deals. I WANT TO JOIN THE CLUB!!!!!

Im not sure how track measures up to performance, I know it weighs more, which is odd, as they should be identical except for the rims, which are a good 30lbs lighter, and the brembos might be heavier but not 30lbs. aeropackage might be making up the difference... all in all I think the nissan weights are shots in the dark to be honest, all low, and all not accurate.

enthusiasts only problem is 10mm less of wheel in the back, but most people do not come that close to the edge anyway.

Default Actually...

Actually the BASE model is the fastest of all models considering it has the same exact engine and weighs the less.

But the base doesn't have LSD which will help your launch.

I think they are almost identical. However, if we were to take logic into this argument, the track with its .29 drag coeficient and the .30 of the performance might give the track a little more umph. Weight is still something that might outweigh this but at the same time, both seem to be near even. Enthusiast has 17" runs which allows for a little less wheel base. The enthus has an LSD like the rest, and it lacks vdc which is dead weight for the drag strip. No big deal. I would call this even in all ways. Add some slicks to your stock Z and have fun. I think I have seen times as low as 13.5-13.6 on slicks?

the fastest 1/4 mi times stock that i have seen (high 13s) have been from base models. Guess the VLSD doesnt help much.
