I wouldn't worry to much about buying a 350z next year. True the dealers will try to maxize profits over the next few months following the pre-order deliveries, but several factors will be working against them.
1. The economy -- no matter how you slice it, the 350z is a luxury item, not an essential. And the economy is in a slump now. Just a note, lately several of the Nissan dealers (in my area) are working down their list of interested 350z buyers, because of people having buyers remorse and pulling out of deals.
2. Demand vs production -- as Nissan ramps up production to its annual rate of 40 to 50K cars/year, they realize, that this will be a consumer vehicle, not a limited demand one.
3. Quotas -- Dealers have them, and must met them. If the Dealer can not met them, then they lose stock down the road. Nissan has already indicated that only the dealers who are making quotas, will get the next generation Maximas and possibly the GT-R.
Finally, the used car market... Why buy a car at MSRP +, when you can pickup a one or two year car, for a greatly reduced price.
So, don't worry, be happy...

This is to those who haven't ordered a Z yet...
I've been hearing rumors, which I definatly do not doubt, that soon as Nov/Dec, any Z's on the lot (nationwide), dealerships will do a major dealer mark up. So if you plan to order the Z and don't have an extra 3,000-7,000 extra for a mark up, I suggest you take any spot you can now, before you get stuck with a marked up base for the same price as buying a touring now. I know a few dealerships in Virginia which will take orders, and I know a few cancellations (Touring models) if anyone is interested. Hope this helped! And all those who have ordered.. thank god we beat that insane mark up.. hehe

By the way, for anyone leasing, the lease calculator on nissandrive.com is up and running now. The money factors suprisingly are lower than the maxima's, I thought it would be much higher.. neat

Don't worry... there's no way the markups will last for a car in this price range... this isn't a Corvette where the target audience has money to burn.
Dealers may be able to gouge some Porsche or BMW converts but my prediction is by early next year prices will be at MSRP.

Prices will still be MSRP, it won't be Manufactor Mark up, but due to the limited sale even next year, they will still be in high demand, so the dealers will try to make more money, and do a Dealer Mark Up. The Nissan Corp wants to keep the base under 30,000, but they can't control with the dealerships do, all they can do is put a MSRP.. keep in mine.. Manufactor SUGGESTED Retail Price.. it's suggested, not final.

Well, there are people out there willing to pay a huge premium... somebody supposedly walked into Rosenthal (where I ordered), and told the salesman he wanted 2 Z's, and would pay double the amount in cash... sound shady? Yeah, I thought so too... but hey, there's a lot of oil money in this area (not from the US)....
For those who are monitoring this site and haven't ordered yet take down this name and phone number.
Dan Ziegler @ Smithtown Nissan.

I know he and the dealership will do right by you.
I believe that they will not be charging over MSRP and Dan has sold to people out of New York and is having their cars shipped to them. RADZ is one if I am not mistaken.
No, I do not work for them, I am just a very satisfied customer since 1990. (6 cars and working on #7)

Lord, I hope not. Now I'm starting to get worried about delaying my z purchase until I have a garage/25/married (late next year); just can't justify the cost right at this moment.
Hell, even if dealers raise the price 5K or so, I will still by buying (assuming the car stands up to the test of time after a year or so); it's just too sexy to pass up, IMO. I'm a sucker, and perfectly willing to admit it. Need the Z.
RX8...ugly, supra...ugly, 350z...mmmmm...delicious.

Good one ballz, its still surprising (after buying several cars) just how snakey dealers can be. Its almost funny how much the story can change from dealer to dealer eh?
I'm curious to know what sort of "fees" your dealer's referring too? Freight, PDI? If so, mind me asking how much? I remember seeing a $950 figure on the price sheet when I ordered, haven't looked at it much since then.

I have to back out of my contract, but in order to get my $1000 deposit back the dealer wants me to line up another buyer. See the listing in the Classifieds section (5AT, Chrome Silver, Touring). Dealer is located in Lincoln, NE. All I am doing in this process is lining you up with the dealer I ordered from. You are assuming my spot for free (unlike some people selling preorder spots on eBay). Dealer will sell to you at MSRP. No markup.
Ballz, I ordered in July and expected delivery, at first, before the end of the year. There was that talk early last week on here about not getting one depending on when you ordered. I spoke with the dealer then and they said October production, November delivery. When I went in to see that chrome silver Z last week, they told me that I was now September production and hopefully would see it before the end of October. Dealer and I will be talking next week since he'll have firm lease numbers and the production number for me.
I've got my fingers crossed!

Thanks J7Z. I've seen the lease numbers for the US. However, for some reason in Canada, they either haven't come out yet or my dealer's not telling me. I was talking to my dealer the other day and he almost scoffed at the 6.75% rate I threw at him from the US information. lol
It'll be interesting to see what they come up with. There are people taking deliveries on their cars this month and I know the first guy that took delivery at my dealer was a lease. I'm not sure what my dealer's doing about that.
Our Nissan Canada website doesn't have the 350Z listed in their payment calculators yet either.
