Dipping gauges?
Has anyone here experienced an instance where the speedo gauge (not the digi one) just in an instant drops around 10mph just to return back to normal within a second?
I was driving on the 280 freeway last night cruising at 60. The gauge blipped down to 50mph and then back up to 60 within the course of 1 to 1.5 seconds. Performance remained the same and power was consistent (gauge back lighting didn't blink, radio consistent, no loss of noticeable power). If I intentionally tried to do this, I would virtually have to slam on the brakes to make the mph's come down that fast.
I can't replicate this problem (quirk) for the dealer unless it happens commonly. I only first noticed it last night. Anyone else?

I seriously doubt that the computer would know the needle did that. Its probably a mechanical slip. As far as the computer would know, it would think the car was running at 60mph the whole time. I've seen this happen on other cars, but I can't remember what the diagnosis was. I just know that its mechanical. Sorry...

I had this happen on my honda, if that helps. My battery was short circuting and my needle did what you described. You might have some loose wiring, which actually reminds me something I wanted to post in the separate thread. I talked to a mechanic and he said that Z is a very good car except for the poor wiring. I tend to trust him because he won some competition in Oregon, so he knows his $h1t. Hope this helps.

Thanks Max. If it continues, then I can inform my dealer of the problem for a fix. I just don't want them to randomly tear up the dash not knowing what they are doing. As long as my safety is intact, I can live with it... for now (only happened once that I noticed so far).

If it keeps happening.. Could be some of the teeth in your speedometor gears are broken and its slipping... My friend has a realllllly old toyota land cruiser and his thing fluctuates like mad and thats whats wrong.
