My birthday. Beautiful day. Cop f*cked it up.
B4 i get this car, I knew it would attract a lot of attention especially those c*cks*cking cops who are trying to meet their quotas. I always pay attention to the speedo whenever I drive on local roads.
I was on the way to see my dentist and driving on a 4-lanes (2-way road). There was a 4WD 3 secs ahead of me and coasting at about the same speed, probably 45mph. We both stopped at the light (I was still behind the 4WD) and here comes this f*ck*r on bike flashing light behind me and asked me to make a U-turn and pull over. I was totally shocked. I used to drive on the same road everyday in my Civic, nobody drives 35mph on that road (since i moved away 6 months ago, this is the first time i take that path in my Z). That b*st*rd wrote me a ticket for driving 45mph on a 35mph road.
Today is my birthday and it's ruined!! I have to admit that I went a bit over the speed limit but so was everyone else. I should have said to him "Thanks for the birthday present, you m*th*r f*ck*r".

Its just bad luck, I've almost been caught speeding in the Z several times, for some reason they never went after me , maybe they were visuall stunned for a split second enough to lose their train of thought lol
Never gotten ticketed in this car either. I've had cops make comments on the lack of a front plate also but they took no action. *shrug*, I think most cops are fellow sports car fans. Sorry to hear you got screwed.
1st ticket? How long u been driving, btw?

I think those c*cks*ck*rs are programmed with the following equation:
350Z driver = ricer = can easily afford 10 tickets.
i feel ya...i just got busted doing 87 in a 55....that adds up to $271 and 4 points. i have a good friend who is a cop and he said, 'get a lawyer and take it to court.' he said since the speed was so high, if the cop feels like being a jerk, he can always amend it to reckless driving, which is more points and harder to get out of.
this isn't my first time getting a ticket though....i always figured you had to pay your fine and take that boring a** 4 hour class. he said i have been wasting my time and money, this whole time i should've been taking them to court.
so i got a lawyer for $76 and we'll see how this goes
side story....this lady was pulled over for speeding, she was balling her eyes out and told the cop why--she just walked in on her husband that committed suicide and was on the way to the airport to pick up her mother who obviously didn't know yet...cop gave her the ticket anyways. she takes it to court, the judge was so appauled at the officer, he pointed at him, told him he should be ashamed of himself, and ripped her ticket, erasing it from her record....and you thought getting a ticket on your birthday sucked

Best solution: Go get a V1 as your own bday gift. And yes, they do have quotas as I was told by my last traffic school instructor who was a former CHP officer.
BTW, Happy B-day...

I to have been to driving school, and my instructer was/is a SJ Police officer, she confirmed their are no quotas. I talked to the chief of police (friends with his son) and he also said their are NO quotas. Also, I have taken other classes on policing, again, NO quotas. Oh and, I have spoken to MANY other police officers, and not one has ever told me they have quotas.
On a side note, sorry about your ticket, and yeah some cops are d*cks.
I've heard that there are no set quotas regarding tickets, but that there is an "average" number of tickets a cop is expected to give out. If you don't want to stick out like a sore thumb in the department, then you'll fall somewhere under this "average."
This is what I heard from a cop some time ago, don't know if it is/was true. Sounds plausible tho.

well, let's put it this way... if most cops are writing 20 tickets a month and you're writing 5 is that gonna raise an eyebrow or two? probably... I'm sure there isn't a chart in the meeting room with every officer's ticket totals up but I do believe they "expect" you to keep up with your peers.
some of my friends are police officers and while they admit that there is "encouragement" to get ticket numbers on par with everyone else, one can always simply refuse to conform. on the other hand, if you were at work and everyone on your team was selling 15 widgets more than you a month, you'd probably do your best to sell more, right?
that being said, I have been pulled over more times since I got this car than ever before. I've come across really nice police officers and well... the other kind too. unfortunately, it's been more of the "other kind".

As for the quotas thing in the October issue of Sport Compact Car they have an interview with a retired California Highway Patrolman and this is what he had to say about the quotas thing
Straight from the horses mouth so to speak
We never had any ticket quotas per se, but the supervisors were aware of every officer's productivity. If you were writing 20 tickets a month while most of the other officers in your office were writing 100, that might attract attention. Then again, if you wrote only 20 tickets but helped a particularly large number of standard motorists get home safely, busted a couple of drunk drivers (which take a long time to transport and book) and delivered quadruplets in the back of your cruiser, they considered those compensating circumstances.
Still, if it was the end of the month, and my productivity was low, well, it was only human nature to try and make up the shortfall. I think a lot fewer warnings and a lot more tickets are given out at the end of the month.
