1st off theres already a non-distorted view mirror on the door
The wide angle is just to see if something is there
distorted view is unimportant in this case
Its important to have a reference point of the quater of the car (even if you can only barely see it) in the mirror. Being able to see if somehing is there dosnt do you any good unless you can see exactly where it is in relationship to everything else

I agree with you about the blind spot. The visibility was definitely one of the first things I had to get used to (I bought a Z about a month ago). I had trouble with the blind spot as well as the rear window. As stated, a few mirror adjustments and some time and you'll be good.
Sucks you had to drive an automatic, but at least you got the feel of the car.
I'd be hesitant about the white leather though. That chit will get dirty quick.
