Default What does this mean?

The trans shop just called me and said "we are going to take apart the back of your transmission" in search of some unknown clacking sound. What does this mean?

It means they're gonna take apart the back of your transmission so they can locate and fix a clacking sound that shouldn't be occuring.

Haha thank you for such an insightful post, but what lies in the back of the transmission is more what I was asking. I'm pretty unfamiliar with the trans... What parts will they be looking at?

Means they are probably slow and are figuring out ways to make money off you.

I really do appreciate the concern all of you seem to have for my wallet, but my car is under warranty so that does not really concern me. Still no answers on the parts that they might be looking at? Hopefully they don't find any gremlins I doubt my warranty covers that...

then who knows what it means.

But what lies in the back of the trans is a SEAL, YOLK, SHAFT.......i doubt its clanging from that. It would least vibrate when you drive and or leak fluid out the rear of the trans as well.

Honestly, no one here (that does not work at the shop working on your car) has any clue what the hell they are talking about. What does that even mean "the back of the transmission"? They going to work on your shifter?

Hopefully the sound you're hearing isn't the normal Z clutch noise.

If the front of the transmission is the transmission case then the back is the rear extension. Maybe?

they're trying to get a lot of money of you. and after they take your money, they may find the problem. if you find a problem, your going to have to dish out a lot more money for the fix.
