Default 350z: japan oem vs USA oem

many cars in many cases in the original country the car was made is usually different then what we in the USA get, for better or for worse. So i started to wonder, what is the difference, if any , from the japanese oem 350z to the usa 350z, beside the obvious right hand drive.

list if any

They have a little reflector under the fender Z emblems, and in the front bumper there are jets that pop out to clean the headlights. And the rear bumper license plate hole is thinner and wider to fit a japanese license plate. And there is a Fairlady badge on all of them, lol.

Good write up on JDM in wikipedia:

They forgot the Mothra repellent mixed into the paint though.

There's one here on base I get some shots of. But can tell you that the 03-05 had a few more models built. The S tune Nismo's were production models and also had wheel options offered in 03 well before the us got them in 06.

Funny, I was on the Greasemonkey site recently and they have a Z in the banner with headlight washer (link below). I thought maybe it was GT option or something but didn't remember seeing it before. They also have the reflector like you mention.

The rear bumper should be the same, the japanese plate is very close in dimentions to ours. Now the euro model bumper is different, a bit thinnner and wider in the plate section.

hmm.. well i'm from south africa

we have right hand drive models here, things i've noticed are different are we also have front light washers in the bumper, my front numberplate also has a huge plastic backing plate that seems oem. obviosuly our speedo shows up to 280km/h. on the back one side is reverse light, other side is fog light. ours don't say fairlady tho, we have the wide number plate bumper too. we have side indicators underneath the z emblem

Wondering WHY something like the light under the fender emblem was removed for US. I mean - from a price standpoint - what would it cost them....a buck or two? It could be a safety plus too....although our turn signals seems to be brighter with a wider dispersion than most. Just seems strange to me....that's all...
