Default What can I learn from my VIN number? (status?)

Ok, I finally got a VIN number from my dealership for the roadster I am getting.

The dealer has been sort of vague about the arrival date (which has already slipped by a couple of months from the original guess)

I have seen some references to people tracking their Z with nissan. Is there a web site or phone number I can use to get a guess on when the roadster will arrive?

Your car will be at the dealership within 5-7 days. Once a dealer receives his VIN, the car has been loaded onto a truck and en route to delivery.

I think he's just guessing on how he thinks it should be. I received my VIN well before the car arrived at the port.

I've tracked the location of my ordered Zs and also where to find a car at a dealer by calling Nissan distribution at the regional port of entry.

Once a car is loaded on a ship, the VIN and all the codes on the car are in the stateside computer. Nissan doesn't want everyone to check on every vehicle but sometimes the staff will help you out.

Call U.S. Customs at the port if you can't find the Nissan office. Once the ship docks, it takes 7 to 10 days to sort them out and load them up.

FALSE! Absolutly not true! You car has been shipped from Japan but NOT on t he truck to your dealer. Once the dealer recieves the invoice that is when the car will be to the dealer in 5-7 days.

What I did when I finally got my VIN (oh so long ago, now) was checked my dealer's inventory on http://www.nissanusa.com/. Once it shows up in their inventory, it's only a few days before you're driving your Z!
