It's not the towing that bothers me, It's that the Z is muffler deep in water. Oh, and the canoe strapped to the top of the Z. I would hate to see how many scratches that caused.
Towing small items like a waverunner isn't really a big deal, the Z has enough torque and decent enough of brakes to do so without being detrimental to the longevity of the car.

Heck my Audi 1.8t Quattro pulled my Jetski too with that small engine. Not a problem. It sure was easy to get it out of the water though with that Quattro.

If it was me, I would have stopped a bit sooner on the decline. It looks as if its steep enough and his trailer was long enough that he could have easily gotten the waverunner safely into the water without submerging his exhaust (but again thats just me). But who knows, it could just be the angle of the pic that makes it look that way.
I find it interesting people use the Z for various activities like this. I don't even drive mine to questionable parking lots.
