The Grille

I've been lucky enough to view and sit in several pre-production Zs out here in CA. Yesterday, I went to a local dealership to check out an Enthusiast Model and noticed something pretty significant.
The front grille on the Enthusiast was plastic. All the pre-production cars I've been able to inspect over the last 4-5 months have had a metal grille. What gives?
For those of you who have taken delivery, do you have a plastic or metal grille? I thought that was an odd thing to change on the production car. Why would the front grille be changed from metal to plastic? Metal was MUCH more sturdy, of course...
Can anyone shed some light on this subject? Thanks guys...

Every car I have looked at closely has a plastic grill. They are lighter, cheaper to replace in an accident, don't rust and unless you touch them you can't really tell. Plastic grills have been common on cars for decades. No reason for Nissan to change this pratice especially since they were doing everything to keep costs down. They put the money where it counted.
