Just put the rear in today... Took for a test drive... Might adjust the fronts to stiffer setting, but car seems very well planted in the turns...

Put these locks on also, pretty sure they are built into the newer ones

Had some minor clearance issues with my differential, and the subframe was a little close but worked it out..

Any photos of the damage on the rear? Just curious to see what the guy who originally offered the seller $300 was thinking.

Yeah car is really in gross shape... It's got mouse poop and acorns and grime and gross all over... The rear is AFU, deff pushed in a few inches... Most of the body panels are messed up...

I'll get better pictures of it but here is something to give you an idea what a $1000 salvage car looks like...

But its not all bad

Hooked up a battery and it fired right up...

Once I clean up all the mouse poo and acorns and grime I might actually make my money back on this one.

Yeah, the airbags alone are going to recoup your costs. The seats look like they can be reconditioned as well. At 46K miles, it's nice that you were able to jump on this for that kind of price. Congrats!

Mikey, you say that like its a bad thing!!

Don't clean up dat rodentia scat, it adds to the patina!! And that's what it seems to be all about on them rat rods shows!!

But ya, looks like you'll easily recoup your buy-in! Wheels couple hundred, air bags are apparently worth a small mint, low mileage motor, hells yeah, you'd BETTER, dude!!

Better you than me.... it'd sit in my grajj for as long as it sat on the seller's property before I got around to touching it. Have fun!!

Picked up my 35th AE yesterday. Man, I certainly have my work cut out for me. Paint is worse than I thought. Many, many hours of polishing ahead of me to restore her to her original beauty.

Started a bit today, cleaned the engine, polished and waxed the underside of the hood and the door jambs. Cleaned and conditioned the seats as well.

Hey CanZFan,

What did you use on the underside of the hood? Any type of degreaser or went straight to polishing? And did you polish it without taking it off?

I was pretty fortunate that the hood was really quite clean. Didn't have any grease or oil marks to remove, so I just went straight to Mother's 3 stage Cleaner, Glaze/Polish, and Carnauba Wax. In hindsight, I wish I had removed it; my back would have thanked me!

Started ripping things apart...

Was a fun time, even though it was raining most of the day.

Here is a good damage pic

Removed all the suspension

Took apart the doors

Pulled the fender liners and sold those for $20

Pulled the seat belts and sold those for $20... Special note on seat belts if you ever remove them make sure they dont retractable fully because they wont come back out... Dude drove here to buy them for $100 but once removed from the car they wouldn't come back out... So sold them for $20 o well.

11 hours of polishing and waxing today and a seriously sore back.

Exhaust tips after polishing

Massive oxidation on the underside of the bumper.

After several rounds of rubbing compound

I am getting ready to do this also...what exactly did you use for the exhaust? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
