camaro owner !!! need your advice about 350z !!
if you get an 07-08 your power will be similar. it's a better looking, better handling, more modern, more comfortable, better interior.. and less white trashy. you will get a lot more attention..
is that what you are after? the Z is not as much of a straight line warrior, there are plenty of cars that will beat us down the drag strip.
what are you looking to spend for a new car? what are your main desires? perhaps we can point you to a car if the Z isn't what you want.

I marked what I want in red...
the '07 and '08 might be little expensive .... is it bad if i get a '05 '06 Z ???
are there many big differences between them ??
[QUOTE=NateZ08;7831391]Alright so look
2003-2006 Models had an engine called the VQ35DE which had 1 intake and redlined at 6500? 7000? There were some models in between these years that had a Rev-Up engine which meant it had a higher redline. It has 286hp at the crank
2007-2008 Models came with the engine called the VQ35HR (HR meaning High Revving) which redlines at 7500 rpm. This is the engine that has 2 intakes and has 306hp at the crank.
NateZ08 pretty much nailed the difference between 03-06 and 07-08.
Not sure also on the ol' zero to sixty numbers... I heard acceleration is also better at the 07's (and on) due to the HR. Also, search around this forum: we got oil consumption issues and other problems that stem from the older model Z's... I got an 06.5 and luckily, no problems (knocks on wood).

06's u wanna watch out for the oil consumption, the early 03-04 years u want to watch out for tire feathering or make sure that it has already been fixed, i have a 03 touring and i love it, great solid car no complaints or problems to date that i havent caused..i honestly feel u would be much happier in a 03 z than that camaro..yes the rev-up is a little more horsepower but it really is no difference if u ask me to make u need the rev-up over non rev-up performance wise, although it does have nicer headlights and tailights imo that can also be swapped out if u had a 03-04 non rev-up, and the rev-up has less torque than the non rev-up not a big jump here, now the HR is a great motor and thats where alot of changes were made, which is in the 07-08's and has a ridiculous redline and makes good peak power because of it and will take some good power also...But truly i wouldnt trade my DE in for a HR at this point its a great car in any of the years and i think u should just go for whats in ur price range and do alot of research on the car to know what to look for and dont get a lemon...whats ur price range?

air noise is different than road noise... im talking about hearing the tires on the freeway a.k.a. road noise
I say pick up a 350z
I almost bought an 01 ws6 a while back. and while they do put out a ton of power, i would rather have a Z now. which is why im looking so hard for one. The interior is very solid, and in my experience when we used to have one, there are no rattles, its a very snug interior and the seats have some good bolster to them. I can't wait to buy a 350Z. the handling definitely makes up for the lack of power.

I'm pretty sure
2003-2005 are non-revup vq35de
2005 anniversary-2008 are rev-ups
Heard the 04.5/05/07/08's are the best to go with

thats what ive heard as well.
transmissions in the first models were under-synchroed and are known for having gear grinds.
on the other hand, the infiniti g35 has the same exact transmission and all reports indicate that the transmissions in those cars are fine... so some of it has to do with the drivers that choose to buy them often choose to drive them hard... and that wears out synchros even if you are a good driver. (when driving fast, we like to rev match before we let the clutch back out, not before we move the lever out of neutral)
the later model transmissions have a crapload of synchros, iirc the first 3 gears have 3 each, and generally stand up well to abuse, although some people have had issues with the slave cylinder, especually if they use stiff aftermarket clutches. there seems to be a fix for that in the works, though.

[QUOTE=sportbiketed;7873157]I'm sorry, I did mean to say 2005 anniversary through 2008's are all HR engines. I am currently looking for an 04.5 or 05 since it's in my budget (I will be buying it out not financing). I've heard so many hit and miss stories with 03-04's with the transmission....and tire feathering.....although these issues can happen with any Z, the chances of having them with those years are more likely I've heard. OP, decided on which model you will be aiming for?
sure the camaro might be a little faster but it can not handle as good as the Z and will never get as many looks as the Z will. A Z will get more looks and compliments in a week than a camaro will in its life time
I have an '07 and love it, although I have never owned a Camaro.
There are some little things you might want to know though assuming you go for manual.
If you get an '07-08 the clutch slave cylinder had a recall.
Also the other thing is 350z's have a very high pedal engagement point on the clutch which takes some getting use to if you never had a car like that. There is an article on how to change this though.
