Exclamation camaro owner !!! need your advice about 350z !!

Hi ...

I'm a camaro owner ..it's a '99 Z28 ... I have it for 5 years ...I'm thinking to sell it and buy a 350z ...

I need you input about the 350z ..

do you guys think i should keep my z28 ? or get a 350z ??

I know this is a silly question in a 350z ... but i'd like to know what to do and what not to do ?

what is the best year of the 350z ??

i've seen an engine with two intake pipes ?? which year is that ?? how many hp ??

thanks in advance ...

and this is my car

Your car is more powerful than pretty much all the years of the 350z except the 07-08 which is the closest to your car.

Now, not sure why you want to switch, unless you want to get a newer car, and a better handling car.

Do you often seek out the opinions of complete strangers for financial advise and what your personal taste should be. Welcome to the information super highway instead of asking the info you seek it can be found with little to no effort but of course not as little than asking others

Default Former Fbody owner

I had owned a 99 LS1 T/A same basic car, i sold it and went to a 350z. When i first got the car i was rather disappointed, not because the out of the box package of the z is weak sauce, but that the T/A made 500rwhp at 6 psi. I think that if you want a straight line car get a new camaro,, but be weary of the new camaro's recall. they tend to start on fire in the engine. The cars are two different beasts all together, you got a handling car versus a muscle car that handles like a boat. the 315 base hp of the fbody ls1 is easily achieved in the Z.

I would say get the Z, or put a 415 stroker motor in the Z28

Personally, I feel the two a drastically different and the is no comparison. A Camaro (while I really like them) was not even considered when I was looking at my Z. The Camaro is still a "muscle" car and the Z a "sports" car. While this point maybe somewhat blurred, it's my 2 cents.

Yes.

I'm not a fan of those older Camaro's.

The 07-08 Z will be much more reliable as well.

My dad has a 99 Z28 and it feels like a boat compared to the Z...I raced an SS. I had a horrible launch and still ended up catching him and passing him. Happened twice...so just some food for thought. I'd say go for it.

thanks for your comments... I know my car is more powerful ...faster than any model 350z....

but I can't deny these facts :

1- my car has ugly interior comparing to the z
2- my car has a very bad handling
3- the camaro is not comfortable as a daiy driving car.. I only drive it at weekends, and when I get home, I usualy tired from the hard driving (m6) and the loudness of the raspy exhaust .
4- the z looks somehow better than the camaro
5- since I got married , I stopped street racing and still love sports cars and I want a car that I drive it whenever I want !! not only at weekends !!

I don't know if you guys agree with me or not !!!?!!?

I use to have a 99 TA myself. And when I sold it, I got myself out of straight line and went into road courses which is way more fun. I will have to say thought hat a 07+ Z is the same if not FASTER than a LS1 of the 99-01 years. 02 I believe is when they changed a few things on the LS1 and it gained a little more power. As you can see from my dyno, the HR Z with bolt ons can make more power than the LS1. but the LS1 responds very well to mods so it can easily catch and pass the Z in that area. But IMHO, reliability, handling, looks, build quality are all better on the Z and easily makes you forget about the power disadvantages.

i went the opposite, a 350z to a 98 z28 camaro lol. camaros are the best bang for the buck and much more comfortable to drive than a Z IMO. road noise is higher in a 350z. the Z has mad handles in comparison and in looks but costs 2-4 times as much. you'll get worse freeway mileage in a 350z and city mileage has been the same for me in both cars

Yeah the Z is great to drive to work, I'm pretty sure all of us drive our Z to work when its nice out. And the Z is a true sports car, you're going to fall in love with the handeling because that's what you've missed out on in the Camaro.

The first time you drive the Z you'll swear it feels like its on tracks. The interior is a LONG shot from the camaro interior, and our seats are amazingly comfortable.

The other thing...these cars aren't dime a dozen like camaros are. Your average joe really realizes a 350Z is a nice sports car, whereas everybody has a camaro. And you'll definitely fall in love with the looks of a Z for sure.

I don't think so ...cuz the camaro windows just open easily when you drive fast... there is nothing that hold them in place.... and when the car gets older and older...the rubbers get bad and the noise get louder and louder !!

I don't know about engine noise ?!

No you misunderstood what I said. The HR powered Z, 07+ like mine, is making more power with bolt ons than a stock LS1 or a mild modded one. Now if you try to get lots of gains from bolt ons like the LS1 can get, you won't get it.

I agree. The TA/Z28 is much more noisy. Miss hearing that rear diff whine all the time. Or all the road noise, suspension noises, etc.

Alright so look

2003-2006 Models had an engine called the VQ35DE which had 1 intake and redlined at 6500? 7000? There were some models in between these years that had a Rev-Up engine which meant it had a higher redline. It has 286hp at the crank

2007-2008 Models came with the engine called the VQ35HR (HR meaning High Revving) which redlines at 7500 rpm. This is the engine that has 2 intakes and has 306hp at the crank.

i'm pretty sure these statements ive made are accurate however i could be off a little. sometimes it gets to be overwhelming memorizing all the facts of all the years of this car. if im wrong than someone correct me.
