peoplefirst.com question
In life there are no good deals. (Optimist, eh!) I looked over at peoplefirst and it looks like they have a good loan deal.
What about them is bad? If I miss a payment, do they charge the hell out of me and increase my rate? Do they take my car if I miss a payment?!? Whats bad!?

I can't say anything bad about Peoplefirst.com. I still can't get over their excellent customer service! With good credit, you can get a blank check........and get this, they don't even know what their collateral is when they approve you. They ask you NOTHING about the car. They don't care what their equity position is as long as you have good credit. It's INSANE. They have my future business locked up.

I strongly suggest you check out Credit Unions first.
Good luck.
after applying online in my boxers shorts at 1am, 2 days later i got a check. It's not really blank as people say. It is literally blank, but the maximum amount you can write and not bounce the check is to put the amount you were aprroved for.
Reasons why they rock:
1. Approved for 5.49%/60 months/full msrp. So if i decide to pay it for 60 months, which i dont, i would have paid 39k including interest for my Track edition. But i plan to pay off in bulk payments.
2. When i went to the Dealer with the check to leverage and get a lower interest rate, their initial reaction was shock, then dissappointment. The owner then says that their policy is to wait 10 days before the "Internet" check clears. The problem there is that my car VIN is showing up on the NissanDriven site. which means its in NYC getting ready to be delivered. So maybe if i dont pay in time they can sell for markup to someone else. So when peoplefirst.com rep spoke to my dealership on speaker phone, i heard the rep get annoyed at my dealer. I was chuckling. The peoplefirst rep said "well if you guys have a problem with INTERNET loan companies and our checks, i will fedex the customer a cashiers check for $34,000 by tomorrow. Have a good evening!"
PEOPLEFIRST.COM YOU ROCK!!!!

PEOPLEFIRST.COM YOU ROCK!!!!
The evening, I signed and handed my dealer PeopleFirst.com check for $35,000.00 for my Touring. No question asked. My dealer took it like cash or cashier check. My Z is in my garage right now. Their loan application is so short, shorter than my Credit Union, took 15 minutes to approve and the check was FedEx to me the next morning. Can't be any easier.
I too got 5.49%, but if I remember correctly, their policy is to beat .... not match... any lower offer given to you by a legitimate lender. The only exclusions I remember are certain promo deals given by the dealers, I don't have the terms with me, but they are clearly stated on their website....just call them up if you have a better deal than they offered and they will take care of it.
I have to agree. I got 5.3% when I told them that e-loans had offered 5.49%. Got the check in two days! They rep I spoke with on the phone was VERY nice. I'll have to keep in mind the call to them when I'm at the dealer if they balk at taking the check.

Peoplesfirst offered us 5.49% and I found a 4.85%, so I called Peoplesfirst back and over the phone the representative offered 4.75%. The dealer accepted the check for the full amount of our Z, and we were out the door and on the road.
At the dealer you will need to have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.

Not only do you need to have rock solid credit in order to get their best rates, you need to have maintained such positive credit for a long period of time. How long? About 5 years.
Thus if you've graduated college in the last 2-3 years, and maintained a stellar credit rating since then, you're probably still going to get rejected (based on time) and become quite frustrated.

Iwill never go into the dealer without thier check in hand again- if they want to match it -or beat it(ha ha ha never)then ill consider using the dealer but with their check in your hand you have sliced the profit to almost 0 for them.

Hi 280zx-girl, I am in South Florida also. I have a check for 5.24% on the way, and i was wondering exactly how you got your rate lowered when you found 4.85%. I myself was thinking of telling them I got a quote from eloan and have them lower it. I really don't want too many credit checks.
Saludos.

But no one has really commented on the negative.. What happens when you miss a payment? What are the various penalties? Surely there must be some.
Has anyone used peoplefirst for a period of time on a previous car?

Why would you miss a payment? Just call them up and ask them what their late charge is or under what conditions they'll raise your rate. I know that they'll raise the rate by 0.5% if you don't arrange EFT for payment and opt to send in a check every month. If they ever do something to screw you over, you can just refinance. Auto loans don't usually have closing costs so it doesn't cost anything except state fees for lien holder transfer ($13 in TX).
I just hung up the phone with PeopleFirst, and I'm approved for 48 months(my choice, which can still be changed) at 5.49%. I filled out the simple form on line last night. So far, awesome service.
The check is in the mail, good for 45 days. Well, my latest info is a late October delivery, but all I have to do is call, and they will send another check.
Now that my ducks are all in a row, WHERE IS MY Z?

I graduated two years ago and got a 5.49% rate from peoplefirst for 60 months. Eloan gave me 5.29% so I got peoplefirst to beat that with a 5.24%. Not a big savings over Eloan but using the check will be easier. Not trying to throw it in your face, but don't want people to get discouraged and not try to apply.

You must have had a credit card in your own name before and/or during college- I didn't (had no money!)
Either someone at eloan has a Z or they've been getting lots of loan requests for them...
