Which do you prefer. Racing from a stop or roll?
Just curious. IMHO, going from a roll shows the true power of the car. *Most* of driver error is eliminated. Racing from a dig is all driver. I have seen a 6 cylinder mustang stay next to a viper rt/10 until 40mph lol. You also draw a lot more attention to yourself racing from a light. (mostly from police). Some guys I race dont seem to understand the whole "go from a roll thing."
from a roll is all about power, I dont like that it takes all the driver factors out of the equation, short of a missed shift or something, there very little skill.
from a stop is 99% launch, take equal cars and the better driver will win every time.
I think the important distinction is not to confuse driver skill and power with traction. they are different, just cause some guy with AWD is faster from a stop does not make him a better driver or more powerful. but 2 RWD cars or something, it would mean exactly that he is a better driver.
just seems like on a roll, pull out the automatic, and put a brick on the gas pedal.
