My Theory on the Missing Z

All,
Here is my take, the reason why the Z is not at many dealers is because the dealerships don't want it until they can have enough to sell to walk in traffic, think about it, you see a very rare car this weekend like the 350Z on your local highway, you really like it and want to learn more , maybe sit in it or take it for a test drive, sounds reasonable, right? However, when you go down to any dealereship in the country, they are missing in action, so you have customers walking away feeling not so good about Nissan or the local dealership. Image is very important to any business, so it's better to act like they are not even available rather than talk about the car. The pre-sale program was a brilliant move by Nissan, it got those die hard Z fans on the hook for the actual price of the car and in some rare case in the car before the end of August (great move, shows loyalty). By and large, all the coverage in newspapers and magazines have caused a wave of interest and Nissan can't quench the thirst of the masses, DC, is a haven for new cars, almost every car on the road here is less than five years old. This market will buy up a massive amount of Zs, but the time is not right, even though it's out in very limited numbers, most salesman will tell you to come back in Nov or Dec to get a Z. I talked to several people today that work for Nissan, one is a personal friend, and they are not happy about the limited production numbers for such a ground breaking car, all the signs showed the Z would be a hit, but only a few hundred have been delivered 10 days into the launch. A year from now this won't even matter, but right now, people are dying for this car and it would be great if they were for sale to the entire public right now, not at the beginning of winter! Just my two cents!!!
