Took Deliver of my Z yesterday-Some impressions
It finally happened. I went to the dealer and took delivery of my Z! I drove it from SLO all the way back to San Jose. Here are my impressions after a day. This won't be technical, there are alot of people here who are much better suited for that but I'll try to give it my best shot.
Dealership: Coast BMW/Nissan in SLO was terrific. Luci, the dealer I dealt with was communicative and informative throughout the whole process. When I went to do the deal she presented me with the Lust and Love book as part of the deal and a Z hot wheel! How cool is that!?
Appearance: When we pulled into the dealership, in a CS Z i might add, it was waiting there outside. The color is simply outstanding! There were people just staring at the color. It was overcast and everyone told me to wait until the sun came out bc the color would change and sure enough it did! Everyone who sees the car is immediately impressed by the color. For those who have not seen Brickyard, go see it you will be impressed and sorry you didn't get it.
Impression: Every person who saw this car thought I paid 40+ K for the car. It definitely has the look and feel of a much more expensive car.
Interior: Spartan but definitely does not feel or look cheap. It is minimalist which suits the car. However the smaller details really are outstanding. From the car computer to the touches around the door sills and the texturing of the vinyl. It is a driver oriented vehicle and when driving it's a "selfish" experience. I mean that you don't notice the passenger. The console and road dominate your senses. Very impressive.
Driving: Upon delivery I immediately set the revs to 4000. This was a good thing. The car is very responsive and accelerates easily and without effort. The car has alot more to give and wants to give it but right now it's holding back until break in is over. The feel when maneuvering is one of total control and confidence. The sound of the engine is pleasant to the ears but not the growl of a wild animal. More like the controlled yell of a martial artist. The torque is evident at all times. It's powerful but under control.
Overall: This car is capable of morphing into whatever the driver wants from the experience. From a comfortable boulevard cruiser to a track monster afraid of no competition. It's for the individual to decide and offers that kind of flexibility like no other car I have driven. Simply stated the car is outstanding!

I know, I know I've said enough but one more thing that was awesome were the looks and comments of people. Those in their cars, at the 7-11, from the young guys in lowered Honda's, to the guys riding Harleys, those who almost had accidents and kids walking home from school.
The best one was when I was leaving the dealership. There was a Lincoln being test driven in front of me, in the back seat was a guy and he turned his head around like Linda Blair in the exorcist to get a look at the Z! Then the car slowed down, let me pass and all three inside took a good look!!
It was just an incredible feeling. Sure it's the car, but i'm in it as well so it counts...hahaha!!

The more I see of the Brickyard, the more I like it. Maybe it's good that I didn't have better photos of it when I pre-ordered. Otherwise I would have agonized over the color decision even more.
Have fun with the car.

Just kidding ZB, I'm happy for you. I really can't wait to see the color in person now.
Go get those 1200 miles on her!
