After i mod my Z, higher final drive ratio and more downforce, i would put driving on the autobahn one of my goals in life.

Simple solution to the license to speed, enforce police to pull over ppl driving slow in the left lane. 8-)

What about all the money each town would have to spend to set up a system and have it linked into each squad car? Yeah exactly..
Are you thinking this through? If the city and township is collecting MAJOR cash in support of this, then it's being paid for with $$$. Pretty easy concept.

There always has to be a naysayer that presents a skewed point of view.

Of course the logistics are incredible, but don't post just crap because you want to add a negative, or want to increase your post count.

Whatever man. Someone HAS TO pay for the system before it can even be started, and it would NOT be cheap. That is all I am saying. Shesh...some people.

Hey look at all those GT3s and 911 Turbos, Ferraris being sold in SoCal. If you had the option to PRE-pay for going 140 on the highway, would you take it?

I am just posting this as an off-the-wall idea, I am perfectly satiated with zooming around Qualcomm stadium or some other pseudo-race track once a month.

A. This will never happen. Only rich people are allowed to speed? Most people wouldn't be able to afford it which is why MOST people wouldn't vote for it.
B. The speed limit was not originally designed for safety as most people think. It was actually setup so the nation would save gas. Go slower, better gas mileage.

Incidentally I have driven on the autobahn. Its not a wild and crazy race. People drive in very straight lines at very good speeds. Once I drove it in a 500 SEL Merc. The second time was a 1 liter Fiat Punto. The Punto was much more fun to drive.

There is no way that I would ever want to go that fast with as many stupid drivers as there are on the road. Talk to almost any race car driver and they often say that they do not speed on publicly used roads for the simple reason that they don't trust the idiots around them. If speed is all that you are after then get a racing license.

Default License to Speed?

It's a pie in the sky idea. While I would love to see the 55mph limit abolished, legally running hard on the street will never happen. Unless your a cop!

Nope, gotta go to the track. I just did an open trackday in SoCal for $100. Cheaper than a speeding ticket.
