Took my Z to one dealer... They tried fixing window streeks, window that wouldnt automaticly go up after opening door so window stayed open... cd player broke in single cd...


they tried fixing.. said they fixed... didnt fix...


took car to Performance Nissan's dealership 40 mins away...

FIXED EVERYTHING THE FIRST TIME!!!!!!!!!!


Maybe find a different dealer..

and remember the thing with CD's... small amount of moisture on a CD will break the cd laser...

 

Most new cars come with some problems, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes...... however, my 99 Honda Lude was trouble free for the whole time I had it
Anywayz, one way to avoid it is never buy the first year model car... that's why I waited till the 04' was out, my car's perfect so far~
Just take the car back to the dealer whenever there's a problem!

 

I work at a Nissan dealer and the grease streaks are an easy fix takes 15 minutes and the Techs have a bullitin to fix it. As for the other issues it is a first year car and that is why you have a 3 year 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. To fix any problems that come up. Be patient and enjoy the car.

 

Make them replace it with an 04 if you can. My 04 has had no problems other then slightly pulling to the right which they are fixing just like they do for the 03's (replacing control arm and something else.) Trannys fine, everything else is fine. Oh and 2,700 miles, 1 month 6 days.

 

Somebody asked what new car doesn't give trouble....
Toyota Camry is the one. (my wife's car). It is the smoothest most competent car I've owned. Boring too.

Its the faults that make a car - a car that is perfect is boring and has no character..

Change dealers until they fix everything.

 

Hey, my cars 95% perfect! If it wasnt pulling right, which will be fixed. Absolutly NO other problems.

 

Nissan's are one of, if not the best cars. I've owned 6. Still have 3 (all Z's) & my daily driver as most of you know has 374,000+ miles on it & I've never had a major issue with it. My 91 is awesome as well. Granted it's only got 60k on it but considering it's age & not 1 issue I'd say it's a great car. My other nissan's (all maxima's all had 150k plus on them when I sold them & not one of them ever had a problem. Well, except for the 91 maxi. The rack went on it with less than 5k on it but the dealer fixed it under warranty with no hassles.

First year cars typically have issues. Most are minor. At least NNA acknowledges them & is prepared to make good (most of the time). Granted if the car is your main or only source of transportation then it can get frustrating taking it in for repair all of the time. Heck, it's even a hassle getting it in to the dealer when it's not your only car. Love the Z!

 

All cars have probs, but Toyota and Honda are a step above the rest IMO.

 

Actually, I think it's a little broader than that. Japanese cars in general are just better made cars. All 350Z's are made in Japan (at least the 03 models were). Maxima's are a perfect example since some are made in Japan & some are made in the US (my 91 was US made. see above). When comparing one against the other the japanese made Maxi's far exceed the US manufactured ones in quality & thus have fewer problems. Always a good idea to check the Japanese car your buying & confirming that it was in fact manufactured in Japan. If it wasn't then I'd look for one that was.

 

Read my lips...MAZDA, MAZDA, MAZDA...I've owned two RX-7's and an MX-5 Great fit and finish, great engineering. If I hadn't liked the style I would have gotten an RX-8...now I wish I had!!

 

have you heard of the "Lemon Law", too many problems? no problems!!! take them back to the dealer and get a different one(beside the Z maybe...) w/o any kind of fees, at least that's what i think the law covers. LOL. sux to be you man, havent had any problems since.

 

You must not be to good a fried with the owner or you'r problems would fixed. Either way tell them to call nissan technical the next time you bring it in. This should not be this hard. Find another dealer and friend.

 

I have a 2001 Acura MDX and have issues with it. Mirrors that drip water days after washing resulting in nice water deposits down the doors. Front seat that shift when you go around corners fast. Brakes that clunk when you backup, press the brakes, go forward and press the brakes (Acura's response is that's the way they are designed).

I would feel comfortable saying that products from Japanese car companies are better than products from American companies.

 

My friend bought a Honda s2000 in 2000, the first year it came out. He has over 35,000 miles on it now with ABSOLUTELY NO problems of any kind!

I really don't want a roadster and I MUCH prefer a heavier 6 cylinder car. Fell in love with the Z during my test drive. Have read hundreds of posts since. I want to buy this car but the problems in the 2003 seem endless: Feathering, transmission problems, clunking sounds, driver window problems, vibrating transmission stick, seat fraying, up down suspension pogo effect, pulling to the right, brake squels etc. In addition, many Nissan owners report Nissan service departments that are inept and/or unresponsive.

Nissan would have my business tomorrow if I was confident that the 2004 addressed the above problems. Instead, I will wait a five or six months to see if the new car shows better reliability. If not, I'm going for the new Honda S.

 

NY, keep in mind that for every person who complains, there are 100 (maybe 1000) others who have no such problems. I am completely happy with my Z. It was built in Nov 2002, so it's early, and I have had no problems with the trans or anything else major in 8,000 miles now. I too, looked at the S2000 but I was not impressed by the interior...waaaay too small.

 

I'm happy that you have had zero problems. But so many other owners have had them. If the probabiliy of a reliability problem is high, I must pass on this car. The Honda S has been around for many years yet the posts show no serious systematic problems. I can't afford the time and aggravation of constantly bringing the car into the shop. My wife has the 2003 Honda coupe V6 (first model year). Not one single problem in over a year of driving.

The Z felt so damn great in the test drive, I really don't know what to do but wait and hope the 2004 shows better reliability.

 

Well, start searching for a dealer then if you've got some time. It seems to me that most problems on this board are compounded by crummy dealers who don't replace what they should have...has anyone blown a replacement tranny? My tires also make no noise from cupping...they aligned it when I bought it and I have the print out to prove the specs. My guys are good guys.

MDXs are made in Canada. That explains why you're having problems with it (j/k)

 

Don't forget that most Camry's and Accords sold in the US are built in the US. My California Camry is Japan-built and though a solid car, it has had the Check Engine Light come on 3 times in the last 13 months, resulting in $1,000 of repairs, despite the car only having 44,000 miles on it. Also, as with my prior Japan-built Camry's, it goes through front brake pads at a ridiculous rate.

 

My 04 has 1900 miles on it and Auto trans=no problems, no window streaking, no seat rattles, no tire feathering (yet), the CD and radio work fine and I freaking love this car. Fifth Nissan product owned-maybe I just got lucky but more likely-you got a lemon.
