Is the 350z juvenile?

Eh, it can be looked at in both ways. Some may say that a job promotion or higher end job calls for a higher end car. But look at some of the "Hollywood" stars and such. Driving around in their Toyota Prius. Why? Because they think a hybrid shows they support being green, but why not a Lexus hybrid? You know they have the money, but it's all image.
You driving a 350Z doesn't make you inferior to the other ***** driving the BMW, just a choice on what you want to spend your money on and what you like. But if you wanted to one up them, why not splurge and go buy a Porsche GT3. That'll shut them up. Bimmers, Mercedes, and Audi are dime a dozen these days, rarely do you see a GT3 pull into a lot. Too many people settle for the latter and just drive a bone stock luxury car, it screams, I have no imagination!

I'm 66 and I drive a Z. There are no typical "old man" cars out there.........................Just saying.

Most the time, people don't choose to drive a Bimmer or Mercedes because of their performance, or power, etc. They choose to drive them because they will show others, "hey i have enough money to blow on this car, but i'm so narrowed minded that I have no idea there are other cars out there".
People who are car enthusiasts for the most part will look at the variables. Reason why I chose the GT3 for an example. Most would just go buy a Porsche Boxster just to have the name in their driveway. 911 GT3 makes a statement.

I drive around in arguably one of the weirdest cars in existence. I've never been hazed for it professionally, and it's even helped me get work. I'm remembered as the "guy with the car" and get calls years down the road. I meet a ton of folk and get invited places I never would in a boring car.
Like many in this thread, I'm a big fan of staying true to yourself, and not caring what other people think. How sad will you be driving around in a more sedate corporate box thinking "I wish I was in my Z!"
Many execs I know justify their Elises, Z4s and AMGs by saying it helps them prepare for/unwind from the stresses of the day. But then I know a guy who has KITT as a daily driver and a Batmobile for weekends...

I also don't care what other people think of me in any car I'm in. I've owned my banana Z for 5.5 years, I haven't had people give me junk, except props for having a spotless and clean car. True story, I've had people rave about the Z than the C6 that I still own. The car won't be juvenile, if you treat it like a lady.

As a 41 year old that grew up with new fast rides since my dad worked in the auto industry and an E30 M3, it is great having a car that is lusted after. The 20 somethings are always looking at saying "dude", the 30 and 40 somethings in the minivan are saying "damn", and the 50+ crowd gets lost in the memory of their Z's. Enjoy the hell out of it because very few are happy when its gone.
BTW - was with another 350 Nismo, a 370 roadster, and 2 370 coupes this weekend for little get together. Parked by one of the Zs was a 335i convertable. The owner, his companion, and his Mom couldn't stop looking at the Z. I didn't even know the 335i was parked there until they walked up to it after taking 5 minutes to look at the 370.
As for the G35/37 - dime a dozen where I am. Beautiful car that isn't lusted after, but their drivers are always looking at the Z.
Lastly, a S5 drove by our Zs, stopped, looked around, then drove off. Don't think too many do that when a bunch of Audis are together
KEEP the Z!

It's not that simple. If you're visiting clients onsite often, the car you drive represents your first impression. It's kind of like saying "who cares what they think about your grooming."
If you pull up to a client's office in a rumbling 1969 charger that smells like fuel, it can affect your relationship with the client. Could you Imagine trying to take someone seriously that pulled up in a donk? Pulling up in a car that's worth twice as much as your clients car won't help you at the negotiation table either.
If you don't have to worry about that, then I agree...who cares. Drive whatever the heck you want!
To answer your question, I would say the G35 is viewed as more of an adult car, but I would not say that the Z is juvenile. An S14 would be juvenile.
I'm kidding.

Awesome... the del sol guys have the same issue. Then there is some weird "hate war" as to which car is better: Miata v. del sol. Love when people don't have enough naturally-occurring drama in their lives.. :P
