Now that the V6 Mustang spanks the Z...

The fox body Mustangs held their own on the street in the 80s and early 90s. It wasn't until the 1990 300ZX turbos came out that the Z's started to kick ***.

So let me get this straight your proud to say that you have never owned a piece of American automobile history? And oh by the way your 2003 350z or 2010/2011 370z will get spanked by the gt(which is the comparable car to the z as they are in the same price range). Not to mention the gt has the nicer interior and the exterior is subjective. That's the type of thinking I don't get? You would actually go out of your way to avoid owning a cheap, much more powerful car with better gas mileage and a more refined interior? I love the z, I just think some of the owners are quite dumb. Granted the op of this thread is an idiot but so are some of the people who have posted in it.

The only reason rustang gt is getting such high skidpad rating is because the tire they put on. Ford is just trying to compensate their stone age suspension with Pirelli Pzero. They'll have fun replacing $400 a pop tire after like 500 miles. At the end of the day, it still can't turn for ****.

Yeah that would be great but the price to replace these OEM parts would be a bit steep for the car's price point. Hence the snickering for the use of $400 a piece tires on a Mustang.

what a dumb thread...let s compare old cars to new cars...doesnt matter what the damn car is at least compare the same years or compare a new z to it....thats just stupid..plus i guarantee a DE z would still be nose to nose with it..those times are garbage that the z is rated for..my 03 went 13.7 bone stock and there are many who have better times than that stock DE's...
Props to Ford for FINALLY making a Mustang THE Mustang. Thats listening to your customer base, kudos. But yeah, I think a stock DE will be neck and neck with the V6 Pony Car. A well driven DE is so underrated i consider it a sleeper.

LOL at all the Z guys getting mad. I have had 3 Z cars and I'm not getting all pissed. I think the point the OP was trying to make, was that Nissan better do something fast. The V6 mustang, which is seen across trailer parks nation wide, can now give a 350z a run for its money (a 370z too if you're not paying attention!). Hell the V6 mustang would probably beat most stock 350z/G35. Can you say embarassing for Z owners?
There is no excuse for a 370z to NOT be deep into the 12s. Its 2010 Nissan, do something! I was never comfortable with the performance of my 350z, when accords and maximas were close to its territory.

So, a stock Mustang V6 that runs identical 1/4 miles and trap-speeds as a stock 350Z did back in 2003 is somehow spanking? What the hell? If anything, it's embarrassing how late to the game Ford is with a proper V6 Stang. We have people here who ran lower-13s with their stock Zs and higher trap-speeds than the new V6 Mustang.
And if we include HR-Zs, no way in hell will that V6 Mustang keep up with a 2007-2008 350Z - they have identical power, but the Z is a good deal lighter and, I believe, geared better. Then, take both cars on the track (skidpad has no relation to track performance) and the Mustang's live-rear-axle will fall flat on its face compared to the Z's independent-rear, which is designed for track duty.
I love the new Mustangs, and I love Ford, but let's not kid ourselves. No matter how much Ford says that live-rear has been fine tuned for track duty, it's still outdone by an IRS setup. Live-Rears are good for launches, which really helps the Mustangs get respectable 0-60 times.
Also, to whoever started comparing tires. Our OEM Potenzas are like $250 from TireRack and such. For $250, you can get Pilot Sports, Pirellis, and a horde of other downright fantastic tires.
