was gonna call BS at first but after reading the additional replies, it looks like this kid's for real.

I'm 20 and my parents purchased the 350Z for me after my 01 Cobra was totalled, so I'll readily admit that I am quite spoiled. I miss my old car like you do too. Nevertheless, I've never expressed anything but thankfulness to my family for buying me such an amazing car after what happened. Your ungratefulness puts me to shame, kid

Anyways, hopefully you'll learn to love the Z. It doesn't drive the wrong wheels, it doesn't carry that boy racer stereotype (unless you rice it out) and it is dead sexy next to the staid RSX.

I don't get it. He wants to check under your hood to detect any upgrades on the RSX, yet he buys you a 350Z. Where's the logic in that?

Eg. "Your modded car is too fast. I'll buy you a stock car that is just as fast."

No, those can be modded. An Echo is more like it.

Glad to see you admit to being spoiled. Nothing wrong with that. As long as your not an ingrate.

How about you respect your father's wishes and leave the car alone? The man bought you a nice +30k car that many of us would do almost anything to have. Why not be thankful your parents actually buy you nice cars and respect their wishes for you to leave their nice car alone?

Ok ok go easy on the kid. SO hes fortunate...although I admit he sounds a little ungrateful. Im just more concerned with the fact that the story has big enough holes to drive a truck through.
I know I was harsh but your story is just so hard to swallow. Besides the points I went over in the last post now your saying that your car was running low 9's!
I would love a pic or a vid or a time slip at least. I have to say I just don't believe you.
And I have no problem with your parents spoiling you, thats fine with me, but I do have a problem responding to your ?s when you story has no logic at all.
Those whole thing defys logic.
And the fact that your dad is a lawyer makes it even harder to believe that he dosent have the logic to realise a two door sports car is not an upgrade in safety. I would think youd have to be rolling an SUV or 4-door if hes flipping the bill because he wants you to be safe.
can't wait for those pics
Thanks,
Tom

His RSX-S was at 247 HP at the wheels...in a 2700lb car, it should be faster than the Z.

not 9 seconds fast....and it still dosent make sense that his dad would buy a Z because hes worried about him speeding and being unsafe!

He is saying that he is running a 9.1 in the 1/8-mile. I had to read his original post to see if he was indeed saying that he ran a 9.1s in the quarter.

Yes, his RSX Type S had 247whp, but it was wrong wheel drive. In a car that weighs 2700 lbs, you are going to have trouble transfering the power to the ground in a front wheel drive car.

With 247 hp at the wheels, he more than like would burnout if he tried to punch it from a stop.

The beautiful thing about the Z is its torque curve. There is gobs of torque all through the RPM range. You do not have to get your car screaming to feel the power, simply stomp on the gas while cruising in 2nd or 3rd gear and feel the smile creep across your face.

vtec gets a surge in power at a certain rpm point because the rockers arms shift to a more aggressive 3rd lobe on the cam shaft, thus making more power, toyota 2zzge engine also has this technology, as well as variable valve timing, known as VVTLi, my celica has a 1zz engine which just has VVTi, which is just variable valve timing like what the Z has, the Hondas new iVtec is a copy of toyota VVTLi, its variable valves time as well as a more aggressive cam lobe that comes in at 6k RPM's

I used to have a CL-S with VTEC. The car felt faster than the Z at times due to the surge of power at 4800rpm (VTEC engagement point for that engine), but overall, my Z is significantly faster - just more linear in the way speed builds. VTEC felt and sounded cool, but it wasn't very useful in everyday driving.

In regards to RSX-S performance, I participated in Acura Wars at E-town last year. There were 30+ RSX's with tons of mods very similar to the guys in this thread. Not a single RSX-S was able to pull below a 14.3, even though some were HEAVILY modded. Reason being - They couldn't hook up. FWD and a light car = wheelspin.. LOTS of it... Even one had slicks on the front, but still had problems launching

Honestly, I would not even bother with the CAI. It does not do much at all if anything. If you want you could get the pop charger. If I am correct you cant see it at all.

Also, for some reason I do not think a 247 whp RSX would be THAT much faster then the Z (at leats one with I/H/E alone) . Sure a bit faster, but not TO much. At least from stop, wouldnt you have trouble with traction?

Sorry, just have not ever driving a high powered FWD car, only rwd/awd cars. I THINK the fastest FWD car I have drivin is just an ITR with a comptech icebox, spun a decent amount off the line.

oh btw,

Why didn't you just go with the TODA engine kits?

TODA Spec A Camshafts
TODA Uprated Valve Spring Kit
Special TODA ECU Program Reflash

It would of been MUCH cheaper than what you did to your rsx..

and a nice gain 50hp, well 53.2hp/33.0 ft/lbs of torque to be exact from TODA racing.
