i'd kindly take him out side and grab his head to force him to see where it says NISMO on the exhaust!

California Air Resources Board.

and not just for noise either sir. CARB exhaust must be certified, which means just because a company makes a dual exhaust for a Z does not mean it is CARB cert. Companies pay big bucks to get their "stuff" certified in this state, Hence Vortech, K&N, GReddy etc.

Did you breathe after typing that?

I've been pulled over for tinted taillights here in so cal too, i asked the guy what the law was on it and he said you have to be able to see red from 1000 feet. i had my buddy press on the breaks for me and i walked a distance behind my car with the cop and it was clearly red in day light so he just gave me a verbal warning and just told me to take it off. so you might just wanna look up to see if that is what the law is

Lol well I guess I didn't get pulled over just for the music... I have an electric license plate on the front of my car that hides and appears with the touch of a button and drive with my plate down, So first he brought up the plate and i said it was there and he went and looked... he comes back with this confused look on his face... I'm trying not to laugh lol... anyways he starts asking me is it my car, who bought it, how old I am... (19), asked me for the ownership and insurance, then once he was done with that he proceeded to say "just a word of advice, keep your music down" and I said is there a law against that? and he said yeah it's a $300 unnecessary noise and I said well how do you determine what's too loud? and he said it's my discretion and I said what you don't like country music? and he said it doesn't matter I shouldn't have to listen to your music while I'm in my car... and I said your telling me for 20-30 seconds your behind me at a light your annoyed with my music? I guess that's why you became a cop and he said would you like a ticket? and he pulled me over in my work parking lot so I just said sure leave it on my window im late for work. I came out and there was no ticket there haha

I remember reading a story of someone with a WRX getting a ticket for their spoiler, and getting Subaru to cover it since it was stock.

If its sold at a dealership, than its street legal hands down

****ing stupid how a quiet NISMO exhaust is illegal when motorcycles that are 60x louder are roaring around everywhere.

What makes you think the motorcycle exhaust's aren't illegal? They're just not getting pulled over. "

I'm not sure what selling from a dealership has to do with legality.

*most* sport bikes aren't really that loud IMO.

Untill the exhaust is modified.

Either way... at least in my state, there are laws on the noise that's applicable to motorcycles as well as cars. That was the point.

Yeah sport bikes arn't that loud, it's the cruisers. I'm not sure what the laws are around here, seems like cops just leave the bikers alone for the most part.
