Default I need opinions...

Hello, I am new to the forums and i am going to be buying a Z within the next week.

Now I have researched and read on the site about different issues like the 06's burning oil etc.. but I am just looking for honest opinions on which car people would prefer themselves and why. As a side note, I could only drive the 06 because the 07 is about 200 miles away from me.

I have been offered two Z's, an 06 and an 07. They are both base models with these differences:

The years obviously.

The 06 is the light silver color with 27k miles on it.

The 07 is the carbon silver color with 39k miles on it.

There are other minor differences like the 07 has a Sony double DIN unit with a 10inch sub installed and the 06 has leather seats.

Both sellers want the same amount.

Right now I am leaning toward the car with less miles, but I do worry about the oil consumption although the owner says he has not had any issues. But I doubt he would just say, "btw this car goes through oil like Obama goes through tax dollars.". What attracts me to the 07 is the engine of course. I know it is only rated at 6 Hp more than the 06, but the SAE standard also changed, so apparently it is higher than that, even though I haven't been able to find an estimate using the 06 standard of the 07 HP.

So in the professional's (y'alls) opinions, would you prefer an older car with less miles, or an engine with a higher HP output in a car with 12k more miles on it?

Like I said, I am leaning toward the car with less miles unless someone can give me a pretty solid reason why the 07 would be a better car.

Sorry if this is irritating n00b babble, just thought I'd ask.

get the 07. dual intakes, more ponies, higher revs,

oil consumption isnt as bad as everyone makes it out to be. the owner could easily not know about the issue, most people don't check their oil level as often as they should.

12,000 miles is not a significant difference. Get the one you like best.

I have an 06 and don't have oil consumption issues. The 07 motor is pretty sweet though ;D

The 07 and 08 HR engine would be roughly 315-320hp using the old standard. It also makes better power throughout most of the RPM range. As a whole, the HR engine makes the 07 the better choice, despite the higher mileage. The engine is beefier internally, has a higher compression ratio, and will respond much better to mods down the road as well.

yay for all the HR owners representing in here. haha lol.

I would go with what you are happy with. I understand the dilemma between the mileage, but benefits of newer car/motor and same price. sooo.... i dont know what to say. I love my HR is all i can recommend.

I would go with the 07 since the motor is better.. but i have an 06 and would buy another 06 with no questions asked. Just get what you want.. not what others would buy

We have two DEs (03' and 04') and one HR (07'), and if the prices are the same and the overall condition is the same, I'd get the HR.

O7 of the two choices listed,I own a 04 base and really wish I would have held out for the enthusiast mainly for the LSD...one wheel drive is already getting very annoying. Spins the tires very very easily in the rain even with all seasons. Next one for me will have LSD..leaning towards a 370z base with sport package or a very clean 08 enthuasist or nismo next time. Still love my car but will have to replace the rear end if I wanna mod the car.
