For 03 owners with and without feathering issue
Just curious to see how we are cornering in the Z and if it relates to tire feathering.
Please post:
Hard/Soft
xx%-xx% (percentage of time between Hard/Soft cornering)
Yes or No (tire feathering)
xxxxx (current mileage)
For example, I am:
Hard/Soft
33%-66%
No
6800 miles
I would consider Hard cornering something in the nature of ~30-35mph and above at such an angle where the car is near loosing traction of the road-skidding and fish tails count
This is mainly for 03's since 04's just came out, but if you do have an 04, please type in the year.

close here too.
40% hard -- without the wife and loving the car
60% soft -- relaxing on a drive or with the wife
1st set of tires severely feathered, changed at 8500 miles
2nd set only driven for 500 miles so far, too soon to tell.
I will be putting on Michelin Pilot Sports all around in the spring, so maybe that will help...we shall see.

27,000 Miles
I commute on twisty mountian roads for about 1/2 my commute (which is where I am driving the vast majority of the time). My stock tires lasted 16,000 miles with several AutoX and 2 Track days. My second set of fronts (Yokohama AVS ES 100) seem to be wearing a bit more rapidly on the insides than the stocks, but I'm not certian about that. I have race tires for AutoX now, but I'll probably stick with the streets for track days. I notice some rumble at low speeds with the new tires, but it is very slight. I will probably have these tires removed, flipped, and remounted because right now the insides are worn much more than the outsides.
-D'oh!

In the computer there is a log of how many 'hard' turns you made in the Z. That is where they are getting it from. I forget how to exactly bring up that menu but I'm sure it's in the manual.

They are just guessing

mmm, seems to be feathering at or above an avg. of 8000 miles regardless of cornering habits. I don't have feathering and also don't have excessive or any tire road noise at all. I wonder if some Z's suspensions were damaged during shipping.
