David - BUDDY. BUDDY. BUDDY.
At this point I think you need to consider filing a small claim for a new
bumper, refinish/repaint, car rental, etc.
If you wanna do a conference call I'd be willing to help.
Do you have a point of contact which is willing to speak to you?
What was said exactly when they called you back?
Are you comfortable with them repairing your previously perfect front end?
Their negligence is the proximate cause of the damage - however, did you
take photos of the damage and get anything in writing while it was on site?
Did you get a police report? Go ahead and get one if not. GO down to the
dealer tomorrow and call the cops. Get the police report there.
This may be an issue as I am not familiar with PA state law regarding accident
scenes....
This should get the dealer on their toes and demonstrate that you mean business
at the very least.
Keep us posted.
I LOVE THIS ISHT.

should i call in a police report now or do it at the dealership tomorrow? i dont have much time in the morning and i know how slow the police can be around here...
i'll keep you posted.
if you're cool with them repairing it give them a shot. that sounds reasonable.
make sure you get a timeframe in writing upon dropoff.
inspect the process midstream to see the work before they mount the bumper.
i can be a bit... overzealous, but helpful.

I had a similiar situation happen to me when they replaced my long block. Took the car home and didn't notice my front bumper was damage from underneath till 3 days later. I called them and asked what could they do and they pretty much said nothing. Hey atleast your getting a new pain job , I would of loved for them to spray and fix my bumper, you're lucky you caught it then.
The more you trust them, the more they are bending you over for a very strong pounding. Unfortunately, the only way to right it will involve more inconvenience and time away from your car... so be ready for that.
A couple 2"x6" boards under a wheel will let you get the jack under it. I have to do that with my Nismo, at stock height, there is no way I can get a jack under the skirts to lift the car without damaging anything. Drive the car up on two pieces of wood, gives almost 4" more ground clearance.
Much safer than letting the dealership **** up your car.

i've been dealing with the service and collision managers. when they called me back they said since my bumper is custom made and rare, it would be difficult to get a replacement so they will fiberglass my current bumper in their shop. he told me i shouldnt worry bc they will warranty their work for life. i feel comfortable having them repair my bumper but when i spoke with them last week they told me i would get a new one. my bumper wasnt perfect, there are scrapes on the bottom and a small chip in the corner. i didnt get anything written but i do have the photos posted on the first page.

i went to the dealership..never going there again.
correct me if im wrong, but i have a 2way lsd in my z, and i guess they dont know how 2 way lsds work?
they're supposed to tick at low rpms, right? mine ticked a couple times, and they just slammed on the brakes, group of mechs huddling in the corner.. thinking i cant see them.. the head mech comes up to me "saying" that they cant get my car on any lift they have..and telling me that they dont want me driving the car cause a bearing or an axle is about to come off, or in the mechs words,"the whole rear right side of the car is going to fall off!"...i was like wtf. i drive 190miles fridays and on sundays, no prob whatsoever..sighh
lifted up the car myself at home..had many of friends looks at it. nothing was wrong.
just a story that somewhat relates i guess..just trying to save their asses from giving away more money or some ****.
at least theyre somewhat working on the car..dont trust anyone man..especially dealers.

Like some have said before you need to be an *** about it I've seen so many people on other forums and this one get dicked around because they never filed a police report. The dealer doesn't want you to file because then they would have to spend more money by getting their insurance involved. Do the smart thing file a report and get them to buy and paint you a new one if you don't you will eventually be on the short end of the stick. I hope you make the right choice instead of being the nice guy that gets shafted.
That or just order the bumper get a reciept and take it to them and say here ya go you need to pay that amount there and install and paint it. But I still feel they would try to get over on you.

i went to take a look at the bumper this morning and they finished the preliminary fiberglass work. the work they did looks really good. i inspected it carefully and i'm happy with their progress. there are a few other spots they'll be touching up and the bumper should get painted tomorrow or Monday. i should get my car back on Tuesday.

i got my car back today and i'm really happy with it. i cant even tell the bumper was repaired and they did an excellent job matching the paint. i think the paint match is better now than it was before. they also fixed a huge chip i had on one of the corners. in the end, i think i came out on top in this situation.
