Would it be stupid to buy one of these for delivery?

Not sure why you think the gas mileage isn't an issue, because it will be significantly different from a Civic. Also, it will be premium fuel and the insurance will be much higher. Cops tend to stop "looking the other way" for guys in nice cars, too. This equals more tickets and even higher insurance.
You're incorrect about the city driving being no big deal compared with highway. The stop/go is much worse. Remember wind-sprints in high school? Would you rather run a mile, or do wind-sprints for a mile?
Work to live, don't live to work.

I'm thinking your tips are going to go down if you deliver pizzas in a 350Z, lol. I've had morons at the drive through tell me "you don't need your change, look at your car". Clueless!

Keep the Civic. All you're doing is going to put yourself in a tight situation. Keep saving.

Unhappy

the cost of fuel alone is going to be at least double of the civic. The repair cost would never be covered think of tires brakes everything is way more pricey for the z than the civic. if the civic is in good working order keep it if not sell it and buy a cheap a@@ tercel then have a z for weekends you will loose so much money after you get a z and cram it full of miles it would sell for nothing.

The fact that you intend on using it for work just doesn't sound right to me. I know that life is short and what not and a car was meant to be driven but i just wouldn't feel comfortable turning a Z into a daily driven pizza delivery car.

I say just save up and once you find a better job or graduate you'll have enough to purchase a nice low mileage 350 or 370 and maybe even have some extra to start modding it as well.

i was in the same boat man, i have a jetta that's paid off and running but i found a z. I couldn't not get it lol. Just make sure you can afford it comfortably, i try and have a year at a time paid ahead of time in case something happens with the job... Definitely makes the drive to work a ton more fun lol. Save some cash for gas to if you end up getting it because you'll find yourself going for random rides all the time. Mileage shouldn't be an issue, mine has 89k on it and im getting an average of 32mpg (standard).

There's a place that I pass by on fridays, think it's a pizza/wings kinda place, but two of thier delivery cars are a nice G35 coupe and a new Cobalt SS turbo. Seems odd to me to be doing delivery work in a 20K+ car. I'd just pick up another cheap beater that got good mileage and was cheap to maintain. My '93 tercel was solid 33-35mpg no matter what, and I couldn't break it if I tried.

Insurance really isn't that high. Unless its just me. I'm paying 100/mo for my 350 and I'm a 20yr old unmarried male. My jetta was 56/mo. This is including 2 speeding tickets.

If you can afford the gas (I get 17city/30hwy), maintenance (not cheap) and insurance but still live comfortably, I would say go for it. Be sure to keep a savings account built up incase anything happens. You never know what will happen.

First off, I think I would get bored driving ANY car 30k miles a year. LOL

To me, cars are more fun to drive at 8/10ths of the limit so the Z is not as fun to drive around town in stop-and-go traffic as you are no where near that. Cars like Civics and Miatas are a blast because you can rev the hell out of them around town and not be doubling the speed limit. Plus, as mentioned in every post above this one, they are just worlds more practical for depreciation, maintenance, fuel, insurance, customer/employer perception, etc.

It will turn into a beater and be a waste of money... use the beater Civic for your college job... get the Z when you have a career.

How many more years of college do you have? I see you're 19, so you could be one of two years or way behind the curve.

LOL...don't do it. all the money you make will go towards gas and insurance and you will have what in savings?

Stick with the advise others said - keep the civic, finish school, get your Z after that.
