Im only 20 and I work all the kinda jobs but have still managed to pay on all my cars with out help, it does teach you a great lesson . . .

98' Camry - brought it off my step dad
00' S-10 Xtreme - hated it sold it after a month
98' Eclipse GSX modded - Loved that car but wanted to move up in the world
99' Eclipse CS modded - Had it for most of HS and sold it cause I hated black paint jobs to hard to keep nice
97' Civic EX - Daily Driver and why people mod these cars I just dont know
05' 350Z Touring modded - Weekend get away, grocery getter once a week

86' Cutlass Supreme (traded a Browning .22 rifle w/scope to my cousin for this car)

94' 4.3Vortec S-10 Ext.Cab fully loaded. (Junior year in HS, much @ss pulled in this truck)

94' Honda Prelude (First car I bought w/ my own money, got ripped off - fun car though)

2000 Toyota Celica (Traded the Prelude and got this for my wife and got a ....

2000 Ford Ranger Ext.Cab for me (2WD it blew and convinced me to stick with JDM)

2001 Nissan Xterra (traded in Ranger for this - By far the best money I've spent on a vehicle, still have it and it's running super strong w/ 78K miles on it. I'll have it forever)

2004 PPW 350Z (traded in the Celica, Toyota service in the last two places I lived in suck rat *****)

No regrets. Lessons I've learned:

1. Only go American if you're getting a full size truck. Small trucks, Ford is ok and Chevy is a little better.

2. Nissan makes awesome vehicles, no complaints whatsoever.

3. In my experience, Toyota service is terrible and I'll never get one again.

4. No matter how independant you want to be, always ask advice before you buy your first car with your money.

5. Never trade a rifle for a car....I wish I still had that rifle.

This will be fun:

1986 Buick Park Avenue: My Mom's car at the time, while I was learning. Surprisingly fast!

1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS DOHC: My first car. Zippy, light, and excellent handling. Perfect first car.

1995 Pontiac Firebird Formula: My first muscle car. Frighteningly fast. Black and evil. I loved that car!

1998 Acura Integra Type-R: 1 of 500 made. After a couple years of Gran Turismo on the Playstation I decided I'd go back to a 4-banger and get a revvy motor. What an understatement...redline 8400rpm, power peak near 7800. This car was a blast to drive. Fast enough, and perfect handling. This car loved the track too. The high rev limit let me hold 2nd or 3rd through sweepers and keep the power on for the exit.

2001 Pontiac Firebird Formula: After a few years I needed my torque back, and with the LS1 motor receiving the Z06 cam, etc I couldn't wait anymore. Another evil black beast. This car was my buddy.

2002 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible: My father passed away in 2004 and left his Corvette to me. Since then I've been taking great care of it. The mod bug hit quite hard and now the Vette has 420whp. Perfect all around car..11 second 1/4 mile on street tires, 0-60 is around 3.0s. Yet it's a perfectly civil street car with 25mpg on the hiway! The LS1 V8 is an amazing motor.

2006 Nissan 350Z Nismo R-Tune: Not in my garage yet, but I have a deposit down on an 06 350Z with every Nismo S- and R-Tune goody installed at the dealer...my first Turn-key. I can't wait!!

1988 Acura Legend (bought with my own money...which was a good chunk of the bank account at 16)

1997 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro (paid for half of it. The rest was H.S. graduation present in '99. Current daily driver...still fun as hell)

'93 Mazda MX-3 (4 cyl)
'95 Mazda Millenia
'86 Mazda RX-7
'95 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS
'95 Lexus SC400
'05 350z base, Lemans Sunset

I wanted my first car to be a 93 Mazda RX-7. Good thing I couldn't afford it. I destroyed that MX-3 at 17 years old (three wrecks, countless spilled cokes, offroading and a bent frame), and did only marginally better with the Millenia at 19. I've matured now and I've been great with my cars all the wat through my 20's. I think you should definitely have to work your way up. I think a person will appreciate their vehicle more if they have to.
