Actually, this DOESN'T "pertain to the '17 year olds getting Z's' debate"
In fact, it is hard to understand what this thread is about with all the testosterone dripping from the virtual walls.
Sorry, I may vomit.

When I was in high school (graduated in 1970 - yes, I'm old), my best friend's dad was a wealthy doctor and bought him a brand new GTO (a 69 I think). My buddy made the mistake of asking for a new car about a year later. His dad took the keys to the GTO from him and sold it, and my buddy was on foot for several months. A few months later his dad bought him an old beater of some sort, but a far cry from the GTO. A hard lesson in appreciating what you've got, but one he never forgot.

I don't see why we all can't just get along (cliche) regardless of age. I don't mean to start this whole damn argument again, this has to be like 8th time this has been discussed, but I have to represent the other side of the story considering I am it.

The problem is, you just don't get it.
I would guarantee that every one of the posters in this thread would have given their 16-year-old left nut to have a 350Z (or whatever was the analogous car at the time). In no way do we try to tell you that we wouldn't have leapt at the possibility. In that you are absolutely right. Hands-down, no argument.
What we have been trying to say (and I don't in any way doubt, having been there before, that your 16-year-old mind/ego can't accept it) is that, given the benefit of our experience, we don't think that it is wise for the average 16-year-old to be in complete control of this car.

Ok people, TIMES CHANGE! I'm one of the 17 year olds getting the car, who cares! You want something, you do whatever it takes to get it, and that is what I'm doing. Why should people care so much about kids getting a Z? Sorry that your childhood was traumatic, but that is not my fault. Just enjoy your Z, and I shall enjoy mine. End of story.
Oh yeah, my beater list....
1984-86 (Forgot) Nissan Sentra Station Wagon
1993 Ford Aerostar
1993 Infiniti J30t (Mom's car, use it to go out)
Future Car...
