Parking a Z in the City
OP if I were you I'd make it as stock as possible with stock rims. Just do so until you move to a place with a garage. Also, yes expect bumps. I'd just live withit and put money away for the future when you move to a place with a garage, you can all the bumps and scrapes fixed. I lived in the city and man I gladly paid extra for a grage!
I have a spot that's strictly mine, so no need for folding chairs. I'm not looking forward to digging my car out of the snow, though.

I've seen a lot of Porsches, BMW's and Mercedies on the street but their all stock. But then again in my opinion a $100,000 Mercedies S class isn't really flashy. A lot of expensive cars are deceptive in their appearance. I think the Z is one of those cars that actually looks like its worth more than it really is.
I really wish I could get a garage but they are crazy expensive in Boston.... I mean really stupid expensive.... A 2 car garaged spot in the North End just sold for $250,000....
No that doesn't include a house... It is literally a garage with 2 spots.
The good news is that my parents only live 20 minutes away with an empty garage spot in the suburbs, so when it snows I'll just keep it there.
Anyone have their vandalized with a car cover on?

That must be a mistake. Let me know where they are parking for $30 a month because that is unheard of. You're lucky if you can park for less than $30 for 24 hours.
No way, especially in East Village. Get me some cross streets. Sorry but this just isn't possible. I live in the city, I'm sure you heard about this from "your boy" but I'd like to see some evidence.
LOL I find this hard to believe also. Parking garages/lots in NYC are upwards of $200 a month for 7 am to 4 pm M-Fri to $400 for 24/7 monthly. Maybe he pays $30 a day but there's no way he's only paying $30 a month unless he personally knows the parking attendants and theyre cutting him a sweet deal. The few times I felt adventurous enough to take my Z into the city and park at a garage i was charged 40 something for atleast 3 hours each time.
OK so maybe i was a little wrong, but the deal he gets is pretty sweet.
Here is the scoop. The building he lives owns the property that the lot is on as well. So the tenants to his building get sweet deals if they decide to use that lot for parking. Since he rarely uses his car that is why he does it so it is not on the street. And yes he only gets to pay 30 a month cause he never moves the car so they do not mind that it sits on top of the lift.

dude where in NYC you get parking for 30 a month? Tell me plz. You can't park a dam bicycle there for less then 500. So no, your friend is either driving like a scooter and his neightbor charging him 30 bucks to leave it in his closet or something?
I have to go up their for work a few times during the year and I dont know if he means like right in the heart of Boston as in the middle of the city but I seen some of the side streets he's referring to with the resident parking stickers. Some of them are cobblestone paved one way streets, and the amount of room you have to drive down them is literally one highway lane wide line to line. I think a friend was telling me that those stickers don't guarantee you a spot, it just allows you to park on the street so that your car doesn't get towed. In any case, cars on those streets are literally jammed bumper to bumper.
I live in Boston, your bumpers will look like they were sprayed with buckshot. Cover is not needed, most snow storms will require a parking ban and you will need alternate parking arrangements. If there is no ban, then the plow will eventually swipe your car. A cover will generate a high curiosity factor. If you live near the commons, park there for storms, but get in early as it fills up fast. 300 month for parking is cheap in town. No nice cars park on the street unless they are stupid out of state college kids
I have actually seen quite a few nice cars parked on the street like 911's, BMWs and Mercedies.
You might be right about the nice cars only being from college kids though. This area has a ton of BU, Northeastern, and MIT students from the Middle East. It seems everytime I see a BWM, Mercedies or Porsche flying around the corner the person is middle easter.... Or an old white guy trying to impress his 25 year old date.
For those who are not familiar with Boston, the sticker only gives you the right to park in "resident" parking areas but does not guarantee you a spot. The road I live on is 2 lanes (one way) and cars parallel park on both sides. They do get pretty damn close to eachother though so it will be interesting.
i doubt it's this easy on a Z... but when I lived in an apartment complex, someone tried stealing my s13 3 times within a month...
attempt 1: i luckily had a dead battery
attempt 2: i had removed the ignition fuse
attempt 3: i had installed a new steering wheel with a quick release
car alarms are so expensive these days - and the cheap ones just go off if a blade of grass moves.. if you don't have much spending money, find quick things to do.. it took me all of 2 seconds to pop out the ignition fuse, put it in my pocket and away i went. in the case of a steering wheel - if some d-bag comes up on your car and sees there's no steering wheel, doubt they'll try to take it... other than that - do the usual and don't leave your headunit in there with wad of $20 bills on the passenger seat and your cell phone on the dash...
as far as reh-tarded drivers - corner spot or if you have roommates, get 'em to park around you - that's what we did... although we had an armada - 2 s13's, an rx7, and 2 bikes...
PS: Buy some touch up paint

Lento, Yeah most if not all of them are from BU. The MIT kids are to busy studying and the Northeastern kids are to poor and too busy work studying. Leaves only the BU kids. The area between the Pru and the commons (south end) --> not to be confused with Southie, where you and your car will be raped..lol
Your area is not too bad, its a little tight, but better than most. Good luck.

probably pay a parking garage... but in the long run its not gonna matter theres always gonna be a punk who is jealous of what u have and try to vandalize it...or the family of 15 traveling in a 1983 pontiac j2000 that will park next to you in the last spot in the back of the parking lot and door ding you
