Where is this thread going? It sounds like the OP is looking for reasons to NOT buy this car.. just don't buy it.. and regret it the rest of your life.

06 45k miles no problems. Hey the good news is, if its under 50k miles its still under warranty. Good luck as you can tell we all love them.

To answer your question, yes, since 06 may have oil consumption issues it would be considered risky.
Do you have any other more complicated questions?

Honestly Bud, to have launched a thread like this you need to take whatever car
you buy in for a second opinion. I'm sure you have a mechanic in town you have been going to for quite sometime now. Ask the seller if you can test drive it over to him. check the car complete. undercarriage and all. if its all good to go you got yourself a Gat Damn Deal. Honestly I would buy a 1963 stingray if it was tip top.

bought my 06 MT wrecked and fixed it up. turns out around 20k miles, the dealer told me it had an engine replacement for oil consumption. havent tested its current engine, but no signs of it burning.

I own an 06 Manual.

It burns oil due to the OC problem.

After 2 years of living with it I shrugged my shoulders and add a quart every oil change.

It sucks but it's not the end of the world.

I would recommend 07+ for the HR if you can spare a bit more dough.

Overall......the Z is a great car...in and out~

If you don't give a damn about your car and don't want to check your oil often or before long drives, don't get an 06. If topping off and regularly checking doesn't bother you, get the 06.

I have found that my car didn't consume when using Castrol. After that oil spill, I stopped using Castrol. I am using Rotella T Syn now and I have to top off. Next change will be Mobil 1.

I find that consumption is dependent on how I drive (Get on it more, consume more) and what oil I use.

Sometimes, I drive the car really hard and check the oil levels to find out that they are fine. Other times, the car will burn about 1/2 qt.
