3M Scothcal, looks like orange peel??
I have a small roll of 3" wide ScotchCal from the days of my 911. I cut off a small 8" piece and installed it on the hood of my silverstone colored Toyota RAV4. The surface of the finished product seemed to have a "Grain" or texture to it, similar to the "Orange Peel" syndrome we'ver been discussing lately. Can any of you folks who have had the #M product installed on your Z's ease my mind. Hopefully, if installed by a professional, the product looks just like a paintred surface, smooth with no signs of any texture.
Before I install this product, I want to make sure I'm not creating my own version of "Z peel" on my bumpers. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Sory man, all of them have this texture. Its either that or stone stone chips. Thats the reason Im applying it to the bumper, mirrors, fenders, but NOT the hood. I hate stone chips but i also dont like how noticable (up close) the film can be on the hood. BTW, this texture is alot less noticable on verticle surfaces, and the headlight film is very smooth.
Thanks, that makes my decision a little bit easier. I'm probably going to follow your lead and keep it off the hood. I think most stone chips are gonna be in the bumper area anyway. Thanks for the heads up.
I've already got a stone chip about 2" below the edge of the hood. Getting an estimate tomorrow for the 3M film. After driving the car for 5 days and washing it 3 times, I think I'm going to put it partially up the hood. There were just too many bugs on the edge of the hood to leave it unprotected IMO. I'll post tomorrow night the quote I get.
