Default I need a Track VIN

Hey guys really simple. I just need someone's VIN who owns a 03-05 Track model. I'm gonna be ordering some parts from the dealer for my enthusiast model and it will be easier if I have a VIN.

Why don't you tell them your ordering for a track model? I'm sure someone can figure it out

Found on another Z website:

Basically.... J N 1 A Z 3 4 D 5 3 T 1 xxxxx

JN1 = Japan-car (same for all of us)
A = engine type VQ35 (same for all of us)
Z3 = model/series Z33 350Z (same for all of us)
4 = body type 2 door hatchback (same for all of us)
D = airbags with 3 point belts standard (might be "E" with sidecurtains?)
5 = check digit (always 0-9 or X)
3 = model year
T = plant code Oppama (same for all of us)
1 = non side curtain (0 = side curtain equipped)
xxxxx = your production number. (note side-curtain equipped vehicle may share same production number with non-equipped vehicle)

There's nothing in a VIN # that tells the dealer what model it is. When you order the parts, tell them its for a 200X Track model and they will get the correct ones.

I've ordered '07 HR engines parts for my '04 DE engine that way.

Why would that make it easier - or even necessary?

A few years back, some dealers would not sell people parts unless you provided a VIN number. It had less to do with finding the right part than it did with people buying up certain items for resale (plenum gaskets).

Well actually the vin number does specify which model the vehicle is. It all has to do with the program that they have. Usually its ARKONA or SNAPON depends on which the dealer wants to use. When I had to order stuff for my 08 nismo it shows a nismo front bumper and rear bumper. And when I ordered stuff for my base model 03 it shows a plain jane bumper. But anyways good luck with the vin number. btw i used to work for nissan as a tech.

Not exactly, the VIN number by itself doesn't tell them the model. It's just a lookup in another system. You could also make the claim that a dealer can tell the model by my name and address.

Yeah your right if you try and make the service advisor run a VIS (Vehicle Indata Sheet) or VIN its not going to tell them what model, and thats only good for the advisor and the tech so they can see if there are any open recalls. But if you go to the parts department and have a VIN it can determine what model your vehicle is. But again he was taking about ordering parts and not going to get a oil change.

your all idiots, every VIN number in the world is posted at every dealership.......it doesnt matter if you give somebody their VIN number.....they can not do ANYTHING with it. its posted on everycars windshield for that exact reason. it means nothing except information on the car. The VIN number doesnt change with owners, nor can be changed because you have a VIN someone with a track model can give him a VIN number and it well not effect him, or just go on ebay and find a track model and use that VIN same thing..........retards.

And yes Dave the VIN does tell the type of model it is. GM is the same way, the digits are different from LT's to LTZ's along with GMC's for SLE and SLT and Denali packages.
