. As for the M3, I'm REALLY wanting to stay away from German cars, my friends 07 335i has a check engine light come on like once a month!! There's always a new issue with it
BMW is the German version of Ford in Germany. I know Germans who marvel that Americans think BMW is a quality brand. Anyway, the M3 is fast and handles well, but as you said above, it will rattle and break very quickly. I test drove a convertible BMW 3 series and it literally creaked when it cornered like a sack of loose bolts. It was terrible, turned me off of BMW.

Another vote for a Subie (a bit biased though).

Screw the sedan though, the hatch is where its at. You can get nav and leather in the normal WRX too. STi gets alacantra seats. The car (WRX) handles like a beast, the acceleration is nice too (few simple mods and it puts down 300+awhp). MPGs aren't the greatest, but oh well. Plus the utility of the hatch is great.

bottom line is that basically all of today's cars are pretty much junk. to much tech is now involved, and everything goes wrong on a day to day basis. Them good old days cars when it was just the engine, and trans was the best.

Buy that e55 amg and then try to win the lotto for the $ you will dish out to maintain it, let alone fix the issues that go along with it.

BMW used to be a good vehicle just like the VW was in up to about 95. That is when they both went downhill. Everything these days is about $ so the companies try to cut costs and start making junk parts to get through. If i did not need a damn car to get around i'd be walking.....

i've test driven an 02 Z4 with M package. lacked the power of a Z and the interior didn't impress me.
