Default 350Z Dilemma

Hi folks currently i am in a deciding stage whether or not to get a 07 Z, with the HR engine.

The problem is, i've own a Z before. My 1st car was rx8, then i moved on to 04 350z manual, then i moved on to R34 GTR Vspec (i only driven this for 8 months and sold it, cuz the maintenance and repair burden is too heavy) then i moved on to AP1 Honda s2000 which i currently driving.(plan to sell this because i prefer a more torque engine) The Z brings me joy for 2 years until some accident happen and i had to let it go

My initial plan was to get an Audi TT, i admire the DSG gearbox and all the german interior, but the car just lack the fun factor and performance when compared to what i have driven before. and in this case, even a stage 2 chipped Audi TT will have hard time competing with the 07 Z.

then 2nd choice was the Subaru Sti S204 or Evo IX, but my gf says big NO as she doesnt like the design one bit, she likes the design of the Audi TT and i just have no love towards that car

and eventually we stumble upon a 07 350z, with some kit and stuff, looks good and clean. so i ask myself, the 370z is already out (out of my budget) and i have driven a Z before, only thing i have never tried is the HR engine and the 07 suspension setup. Question is, is it worth getting?

need your opinion guys. Thanks

Not worth it... at least in my op, I went with an '06 instead of an '07-08. Get another GT-R if you can, lol.

This is a dilemma, but if we stick together, I think we can get through it.

Better yet… Pics of the gf.

She apparently has influence on this decision (demanding the TT) and we need to know if she is worth sacrificing the OP’s preference over what the gf wants.

well, i would get a GTR if i have the money, i cant even afford a 370z.

yes, my girl likes the TT, but the TT just lacks the appeal to me and i really dont want one.
but i do admire the interior and the gearbox, thats about it.

The WRX STI S204, i would prefer that over 07 Z, mainly because i never own a 4 door performance sedan before, but my girl hated the design so much.

so, back to the Z. the 07 HR is a major improvement over the DE, and i am anxious to find out. anyway, thanks for the opinion.

owning an r34 = not being able to afford a 370... does not compute

you shoulda just traded it to a 370 or 350 depending on when you had it... and skipped on the honda

Oh, actually car prices over here in Malaysia is different.

A 370z currently worth approx $100k usd, and that is not even brand new.

a 01 or 02 R34 GTR V-spec goes for $70k usd

a 07 350z will worth $63k usd. so, the difference is quite huge. and import tax in malaysia is ridiculous .

Move to America, buy the 370Z and save $70k, then put that towards a down payment on a house.

Seems like a waste of money to get torque and fill your fix... also, dump your girlfriend if she is telling you how to live your life... OMG.

So, do people working in Malaysia make 2X the salary of Americans? If not, you're getting boned.

I traded in my TT for a HR Z, overall im happy with my decision. The interior is cheap and the tranny is noisy but i enjoy driving it more.

God damn.. I think I should be a used car salesman in malaysia. Lol. I'd say. Get the 07, save your money, no need to spend needlessly. If the 07 fullfills your torque needs then settle for that.

But aside from that, what about a new m3. Those are beastly.

Do not buy the Audi TT. I had a 2001 225hp 1.8T and it had a lot of problems. It had to be worked on every other week. They have a lot of engine failures because of the timing belt. Also, parts and labor are not cheap.

I had the car for 2 years (11k miles) and it was in for service over 20 times.

Here are some things off the top of my head that Audi replaced on my car, thankfully all under warranty:
MAF
blinker assembly
passenger window motor
engine (everything but the block)
engine wiring harness
air conditioning system
water pump x2
thermostat
radiator and hoses
and countless little things like buttons falling into the dash and features not working (heated seat etc...)

So yeah, anything but the Audi.

Please tell me, no one over there are driving around in Z34's? If they do, I'm sure they're also wrapped up in a Nigerian scam...if their dumb enough to pay those prices! How much for a R35?
