Heh, in English 1010, I wrote my "Personal Experience" or some paper similar about my run-in w/a raccoon in my Stratus. It only cracked a tiny portion of the bumper. But after I turned around to go see if the raccoon was dead, two little baby racoons came from the side of the street, walked to its dead parent, arched their backs, and slowly backed up. Thought I'd thro that in mention that.

Sorry to hear that though.. that really sux :S

Hey Jon, I still have my stock redline bumper. If you want it, i'll sell it to you cheap. Better than buying a bumper from Nissan for full price. Call me you got my cell#.

Heh. It's not like they want to get killed and damage your car.

Damn, that sucks for both of you, but, atleast you can fix your car, that animal however, oh well... :-/

Get the nismo spoiler, it looks nice.

Cost to fix:

Water reservoir = $120.00
Front bumper = $220.00
Paint job = $500.00 - $600.00
----------------
Total Estimate = $840.00 - $940.00

Your insurance should cover your damages under no-fault.

600 dollars for a bumper repaint? I got my nismo bumper painted for 300 bucks... perfect paint match. Jon, I'll refer you if you need to. The place I got my nismo kit painted did a picture perfect job. I don't even think its worth claiming insurance, i'd assume your deductible is 500, so lets assume these estimates are true - you're looking at 850 bucks - 500 deductible = 350. You wouldn't want to riskk increasing your premium over a 300 dollar savings, do you?

I'm glad I DIDNT hit the one that crossed my path that night a couple of months ago, then.....if figures to fix/replace are that much! (But I would have rather not ended up in the median either). Do a search for "Next time I'll just hit the raccoon!" & you'll see the story.

LoL

I didnt claim insurance either....didnt wanna risk the rate hike.

I almost wiped into a deer about a month ago... I'm traveling down a steep hill in Mill Valley after visiting my parents. A deer pops out and just stands there... I slam the brakes and the car didn't stop until just a few feet away. After staring at me for like 5 long seconds, the deer just prances away. Now that would've been some damage, huh?

Man though... that must've been some raccoon to cause such damage...

LOL, this sounds all too familiar. I hit a fox a few months back, and it did the exact same damage to my front bumper, minus the fluid reservoir. I have yet to get a new bumper cover since I really don't feel like paying $800 for a new one (body shops around here are expensive). I know somebody out there has a CS bumper cover they want to sell me.

That's exactly why I haven't claimed mine. In the past, my car has been a magnet for drunks to hit, and even though comprehensive claims aren't supposed to affect your premiums, they will (or you'll get a letter of policy termination). I have since calculated that unless the damage is $1300 or more, it's not worth claiming. Sad, but true.
