Question What's the next car after your Z

I'm still enjoying my 2006 Z, but I've had it for several years now and Im soon going to be moving on in my life after college. Im starting to get ready for my next car(s). Right now a Mercedes Benz SLK 55 AMG and a Dodge Charger SRT8 are ahead of the pack (buying both a couple months apart, charger would be my DD). What do you guys think is the next step from a 350z? A European car like a BMW M3 or Audi S5 maybe? Maybe a Corvette Z06? I've been considering all these plus the Porsche Cayman S, Camaro SS, and even the Mustang GT500. I've been all over the place, that's kind of why I'm wondering what do you guys think is the next step from a 350z car wise? Lol and Im not asking to help me pick my next car. And just so you older guys know, when I do buy my replacement for the Z, Im giving the Z to my father because I don't need the Z to pay for the replacement since I will pay for it cash. I could use it on the daily driver though depending on the 2 cars I get, but my dad will enjoy the Z so it's worth it.

Your just finishing college and your ready to buy those?

And if this is a serious question an M3 will feel like the Slk 55 I think. Same with the audi. Why not go exotic? Lotus is pretty cool.

Since the slow, gas chugging SRT-8 is going to be your DD with gas at $4/gal... there are a few nice options to upgrade your sports car:

- Porsche GT3
- Corvette Z06
- Mustang Boss 302
- Mercedes SLS AMG

Sorry, but the SLK is a housewife car, I don't care if it is an AMG or not... leave it out.

Lol yea Im doin alright. I got a job before I graduated obviously.
It is a serious question though. Eh Ive never really liked how the Lotus looked though. There's one that lives right up the street from me, so I've seen it like every day for the last couple years.

the new mustangs are winners imho. The smaller size, curvier lines, and increase in power make it so much more desirable than any previous model.

I love the Cayman. Even though it shares a lot with the Boxter, it looks very unique. Cayman in white is my next car. Not for a long while though.

Congrats on graduation! I graduate in June.

Eh the gas doesn't bother me particularly, Im anticipating paying $5.00 a gallon in the next few years

And lol your upgrades other than a used Z06 are a couple of cars away for me at least...

Yea Ive heared that before about the SLK but I do want a luxury car, and it looks better to me than an older e55 or not the new e63 amg. Plus I want a luxury sports car that you don't see too many of on the road, not a sedan.

I agree, and the Mustangs do look sick, but I see too many of the old ones on the road. Even if I modded one heavily I still feel it's too common. I want something that you don't see as much on the road. Even Caymans/Boxters are common here in LA. Like a Cayman S looks like a Cayman, and a Mustang GT looks like a V-6 Mustang.

And I graduate in June also even though I should be graduating now but I have to take a 2 unit class called like "intro to higher learning" that I was supposed to take as a freshman... Congrats though!! On to graduate school now lol, it never ends.

Congrats man! I'm still in college too, but I would keep the Z. You could get the Lotus Evora.

Whatever you do, I agree with the SLK=Housewife car.

You can do much, much better than that.

So you are saying the 350z was your dream car and you have one now so that's it?? There is no next step in cars after the Z?

Like for a lot of people here on this forum Im guessing it'd go something like:

You start with your Honda Civic/ Scion TC/ Acura RSX

Then you have your mustangs and camaros

Then you get to your 350z and BMW 335I... This is where you are at ^Whats after that though? BMW M3, Audi S5, cayman s, SLK 55 AMG?? This is where Im going to be very soon...

Actually replace the SLK with a ZR1 or a Z06 if that's an option.

I've worked plenty of overtime this year, I won't be trust me The only time in my life where I was/ever will be car poor was with the Z lol... But hey you don't need a lot to survive during college.

Well a z06 is a real stretch of an option. I mean I guess it is, but not a great option financially.

I'd ideally want to pay for something cash, and then have enough or be real close to putting a big down payment on a sedan that would serve as my daily driver which I could mod a bit.

I went with something more comfortable and highly recommend the same to anyone else interested in trading in the Z. I still have my Z but the LS430 I picked up as a daily has been amazing. Plus the ladies love comfort over power.
