Default Should I bother...

So I gotta get everyones opinion. I'm always thinking about doing things to my Z, exhaust, paint, leds, rims, so on. Never really had the time or money to start projects but now I do. Here's the thing, it's an '05 350z Touring with about 122,000 miles. So with that many miles and the fact that I drive at least 2,000 miles a month minimum is it worth investing more money into the car?

Thanks in advance for any input.

With that many miles you will be "investing" just to keep it running well.

Are you running the original suspension? Time to get some dampers. When stuff fails, brakes for example, then you can "invest" in bigger brakes. Wear items such as wheel bearings will not last forever.

Awesome, mine still runs great, I think I'm gonna start just getting the body better (f'ed up when I side swiped a dumper) and I just read the forum for spraying stock rims, instead of dropping $800 or so for new rims and tires I'm just gonna stray my stock.

davidv - yeah its been running pretty well, I still need to do the huge service but I keep up with oil changes and so worth. I'm really surprised at how well it still runs.

I wouldn't do it. But here's something to think about...That 2005 should sell for a good amount.. For the same price you sell it you could get a 2003-2004 with way lower mileage. If you want 2005 or above, you could sell yours and add a grand or two and get another Z with low mileage.

Just something to think about.

Thanks turkspartan,

I was actually looking at doing that a while back, just trade in the car and (and I hate to admit this because I love nissan z's) I was trying to get into an 07 bmw Z4. Thing is I'm way underwater with the car, no way for me to break even on the car and pay off the remainder. So I'm planning on keeping it, pay it off and then trading it in. I just don't know if I should do big expensive projects on it.

Well why don't you invest on wheels. That's my favorite mod to a car. It makes all the difference. And if u get a new 350z later you could just transfer it over. If you do expensive mods, do mods you can transfer over.

If you're upside down on a loan for an '05 car with 122k on the clock, you should not be getting into "big expensive projects", you should be paying down your balance.

That being said, this is completely a matter of personal preference.

I agree 100% with spoilsofwar. If you got the extra cash just pay for your car.

It's still got life left. Do the maintenance it needs at 100K if it hasn't been done already.

I think the last big maintenance was 90k. I'll do another large one soon when I have the $450 to spend. I did spray my rims today, or at least the front two, tomorrow will be the back two. Graphite looks pretty sweet, gonna upload pictures when I'm done with the wheels, door handles and I'm think the B piller. Saving tons of cash using about $60 in supplies.

go big or go home..... Spend the money while you have it, the world is going to end in the year 2000 anyway.

I mean 2001

I mean 2012

either way, I think realistically you should pay down to the point that you could at least break even. because if you do try to sell it and it's all effed up (CEL, cant pass smog what have you) then It will be even harder to sell off or trade in
