been on this forum for like 4 years... this is just a new name since we are now a sponsored vendor...

Honestly, the search feature on here is ALMOST as bad as the one on DSM Tuners from back in the day. Sometimes it's just easier to ask a question and have someone who may remember a certain thread to just post up a link. The only people who get annoyed at seeing the same stuff are the people who live on forums and look for new content every 15 minutes.

Im not trying to defend the OP but at the same time, ppl who just comment "search" are as bad (if not worse) then the guys making the threads for questions that have been answered many times over. the "search" guys are just upping their post count while acting like that play a role in an authoritative manner. Now to the ppl who are to lazy to search then yea, they deserve being mocked. But to those MANY who DO search and come up with wheel threads when searching for bumper fitment threads, I think as a last resort its not a big deal if they make a thread asking a specific question.

flame me if you will, it just further proves me point ..... just my .2 cents

Now on topic: my gas gauge is more inaccurate then a blind man trying to color in the lines. I will fill my tank, and it never reads Full. stays at 3/4. Then after 40 miles it shows about half a tank. Then the needle comes up a bit. As soon as I blip the throttle, minutes later it drops to below a half tank. If I park the car, and start it a few minutes later, the needle sits on E with the light on, while the digital gauge flashes 180miles DTE. After a few minutes it goes normal, and then repeats its crazy process. It needs to go in for warranty work soon.

i average about 200 miles on my tank but I also fill up around 1/4 tank so I would get more miles out of it if I ran it down to almost empty.

I usually get about 18-19mpg in mostly city/some highway driving. And last week I ran a tank from full till the light came on (50miles remaining) and I had 300miles on it.

According to the "book", my car should get 17mpg city and 23hwy. So 19 mixed seems about right to me.

No, this is true. Some people have this need to show off in a forum they feel completely comfortable in. Being a dick is how you move up in the cool scale in a car forum of this size.

Anyway, think either my gas light comes on too early, and I have a huge resivoir of unused gas just sitting at the bottom, or my spacer just affected my mpg.

For the record, i did use the search function, cuz i was too lazy to start a thread, but didn't see what I was looking for.

Was it an arm and a leg to fix the gas tank? I'm wondering if the local nissan does it, but i would imagine they would charge a crap load of money.

I have a 2003 by the way.

No, I think it was two hours of labor. They had to adjust the float, but your local dealership may not know WTF you are talking about when you mention it to them. One thing I learned - the adjust float height was very accurate. When it read "----" I had to get to a gas station. The first time it took 20 gallons on the button.

sorry, i agree that its annoying to see similar threads over and over again. and also it hard for ppl to manager the website or some ****. However, the site is for people to share similar interest or get help from fellow members. asking question is one way to do that. if you think thread is waste of space, you can simply ignore it. no need to write anything to put others down. for example when you are in school, there are lots of questions being asked by students. usually most of the answers can be found in the book. can the professor say don't ask me anything that can be found in the book? because it will be annoying for the professor to answer those questions over and over again. that might not be a perfect example but you know what i mean. but if that's the rule i guess we'll try our best to follow them even tho i don't agreed with some of the terms.

back to the topic. the gas mileage are really depend on the road design, even tho for locals that are lots of variability. if you drive in san francisco where there are lots of hills and stop signs, you will have to waste much more gas then ppl live in area with less hills and stop signs. i get about 14-15mpg in san francisco. but in other places i get about 22mpg.

According to my trip gauge reading (or whatever you call it) I average about 21.5 combined city/highway driving with driving split about evenly between the two. I am satisfied.

I have an 04 and I fill up at about 1/4 left on the gauge. It usually only takes 10 or so gallons and I get around 220 miles for the 10 gallons.

^ yes and thats driving around fairly spirited at least once a day. I think Nissan prefers to use a huge reserve. My titan has a 28 gal tank and when the light comes on I still have 8 gals left in the tank.

But then again I dont rely on the gauge too much, because the Titan just got a recall for the fuel level sender. I guess many people ran out of gas with the gauge showing 1/4 tank left. lol...waiting for the light to turn on.

I ran out of gas in our 04' Titan for the first time a few weeks ago. The light was on forever, but since I only commute about 1 mile each way/day, I just let it go. I think the suck light comes on with about 5 gallons remaining. I do know that the tank will take all 28 gallons though.

It's all in how you drive, baby the gas peddle and you'll get better mileage, drive it like you stole it and you'll get 15 or less. I get 17-18 mpg

I have an 04. All I do is city driving. My work is about 5 miles away. So I usually get 17-18 mpg I always fill up at 1/4 tank.

I have a question regarding this. Mine says that I avg about 27mph with 14.4 mpg. The thing is that my miles come mostly from driving on the freeway where I usually maintain the speed at 65-70mph. How can I avg that speed
when I drive very litte on the streets?

Thank you for this post! I actually found a thread I wanted on this site by using Google. I was unable to find the thread vie the search engine here.
Now to gas mileage. First off, it depends on several things. Is your car's actual condition good. Is the engine tired? Has it been modified in any way? Another thins is driving style. Jack rabbit starts and hard braking for every intersection or light eats gas with a big engine like this. So does a lot of idling.
Short trips in cooler weather will have the car drinking gas. When I need it, the car has loads of power, but I don't need to prove that every time I take it out. If my little trip / gas mileage meter is any indication, I get around 26 mpg for my commute and over 28 mpg on the highway at 70 mph. But, to give you an idea of how easy I am on the car while commuting to work, I only need 1st, 3rd and 6th gears and I don't rev the cap out of the engine.
If I need to accelerate fast I'll use all the gears, but for a normal smooth take off in traffic, I don't need to fart around banging through all six gears. I also coast to a stop and don't screw around down shifting and such. If I do drive more aggressive, mileage drops to around 20 for a commute and can be dragged down a couple miles per gallon on the highway. With this car, you can get some really good fuel economy figures if you drive conservatively. You can also get some pretty awful figures if you have a lead foot. If you live in one of those unfortunate places with anti-synchro traffic lights ( like Gainesville Florida!) Expect fuel economy to be under 20 mpg no matter what you do shy of shutting the engine of at every light, and in Gainesville you WILL stop for every darn light. I do not recommend shutting off the engine at traffic lights! This car is not much worse then most sedans like a Camry or Accord in similar driving conditions. It isn't a 40 mpg car, but it also isn't a boring car like most of these 40 mpg cars are. It is also a tough built car that has the capability of going a couple hundred thousand miles with out major failures if you don't drive it like a maniac.

A good hint if you can't find it with the Search built into the site is to goto Google and use "site:my350z.com" as one of the search terms. That forces google to only provide results from this site.

So, for example, you would use "site:my350z.com average mpg" as shown here: http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=site%3Amy350z.com+average+mpg

I've found that if you know the right sub-forum to search in, the "Advanced Serach" on here works pretty darn good. But if you're not sure of the sub-forum and you're not getting good results from the built in search on the site, that trick will help.

i'll recommend the scangauge ][ again - instant MPG reading really helps me get 26 mpg

while still having fun... (8 mpg at sebring around raceway)

oddly i get worse highway mpg only 24/25 but that is Florida 70 mph speedlimits so 75 -80 ish

not as good as my wife's prius 55 mpg - that's entertaining when you get the engine to cut off and use just the battery to maintain ~45 mph

[when gas is $4 / gallon these mpg threads are acceptable to me - getting 200 / tank needs to get checked out (assuming you put in 14-17 gals per empty tank?) my idjut light and then dte --- always leave me with ~3 more gallons to go / the scangauge counts down to absolute empty]

spacer won't effect gas mileage - it improves efficiency a bit so it might even go up

Good Luck!
