Spend no more than 10k... then expect to put a few thousand more into it as things wear out on the car in the next 35k miles.

EDIT: You might want to do an engine compression check to see if it is still strong. 185-200 would be great. Throw in a leak down test too.

Welcome.

A vehicle with 100,000 miles will require more upkeep than one with 50,000 miles. You will pay a premium for the vehicle with 50,000 miles, but less for maintenance.

So pay now (price) or pay later (maintenance costs). There is no free lunch.

133k on mine , beaten hard and the valve covers have yet to come off. I'll bet mine has been beaten harder than most cars out there, it has plenty of track miles.

I am doing a leak down check this week. I want to know.

Mileage is not necessarily an indicator of anything positive or negative about the car. You'll find members with less than half that mileage complain about issues ranging from minor to major, and guys with more miles, that track the car (as Len does), drive it daily, and have next to no issues other than wear and tear. Maintenace records that can be verified, and a general bill of health from a qualified mechanic are more important than miles.
