290 Hp?
287???
What dealer ship was in the ad? I know that when I preordered my Z the weekend of the Atlanta Autoshow that my dealer had been to see the show car and talked with NNA. He quoted "287" to me the day I bought it. The Dealer I heard this from was Troncalli Nissan.

If they leaked it, then they are in trouble with NNA. Since there is an embargo on the performance stat?
I think they just simply put the hp there to get more buyer. They figure 280+ probably means more than 290hp..

Why advertise for 10 slots?

I too live in the Atlanta metro area. My neighbor showed me that ad as well. There are a couple of things that surprised me about that ad. The 290hp that you mentioned...I don't see a disclaimer anywhere so why would they advertise that spec. and assume the potential legal risk unless they have some facts.
Also why would they advertise at all when they have only 10 slots left. All seems kind of odd to me.
But with that said I ordered my car from Town Center Nissan a few days after they opened their doors and heard a radio advertisment from them pushing their open allotment.
My take on the hp...I'll be very surprised if it turns out to be 300. I'll be happy with a 0-60 speed that can beat the Porsche S. I don't car how it gets done...curb weight, gearing, compression ratio, whatever.

time. I'm sure there is a cut off date to be included in the initial
pre-order. It was explained to me by my dealer (Regal Nissan)that each dealer got 17 pre-order slots, so I would imagine they
are doing everything within their power to get all 17. They must
not have the cash to order them on their own. As for the horsepower, I think you are right, they could get in trouble for false advertising. As for the 0-60 times, if it's at or under 5.5, I'll

Amen jgrier, I can't wait to sit at the line with a Porsche. Not that I would want to raise the green flag and race him off the stripe...not that's not it at all. I'm not into that. It's all about knowing that I have underneath me what it would take to blow the doors off a $56K car that I bought for $thousands$ less and has the styling to boot is all the pleasure I need. Don't know why but I've had this feeling of 295 ever since I put down the deposit...can't explain it but that number keeps poping up in my head...let's see what happens...the Nissan rep from the dealership is coming to see me at work tomorrow...let's see if I can get any info from him
