Lately I have been feeling a bit depressed and I didn't know why because I'm not usually like this. The reason is because I have my Z in storage (in another state!) and have not driven it for more than a month now. I live in Syracuse, NY and we get too much snow here. I drove the Z last winter and I promised myself that I would never do that again (unless I want to crash my car unpurpose).

As soon as April comes, the Z will return (with a vengence)!!!

Jedoublery:

I'll tough out not driving even on "nice" winter days because this care is LONG term thing for me. It will never know the snow and salt that are MN roads in the winter. It's a small price to pay to be able to leave a car like this to my children or grandchildren. (FTR I'm 32 married and yet to have kids)

Jimombour:

I left the battery hooked up and am using a charger that senses the status of the battery and only charges when the battery output drops below the optimal charge.

On a side note to storage: After reading some suggestions on this board I put down a heavy 6ml plastic sheet on the garage floor. I was a little sceptical but low and behold I found signifcant condensation build up under the plastic when I was checking things out on Sunday.

Withdrawal in the Z can be pretty messy... oh, we're not talking about that type of withdrawal...

I yearn to drive it on the open roads... but I don't miss driving her so much for the fact that we spend a lot of time together during daily work commutes... and in traffic at that, where speeds of 25-30 mph are normal.

MrLoutish thanks for clearing that up. I think I'll just hook it back up next time I start her up. Do you know of any major issues with leaving the battery disconnected for so long? I know the ECU will reset itself but other than that, are there any known issues?

Try going to tinting places, that's where I got mine. Got offers of up in the $800.00 range to do the entire front area, hood, front of roof, side mirrors (top and bottom), and A-pillars. Got all that installed for $450.00. There are different kits (companies that cut the material), but the material itself is all the same and comes from 3M.

The Z's still in the shop after my accident. This is week #3 being Z-less. What makes it even worse is the rentals I'm getting..
Week 1- Chevy Cavalier w/ "Super Stank" Option. The thing smelled like nasty feet.
Week 2. Pontiac Sunfire
Week 3. Mitsu Lancer. w/ "Hole in the floorboard where your heel rests" Option. I dunno what the hell happened with this thing, but where your heel rests for the Brake and Gas, there's a gaping hole in the floor! Oh well.. I need the Z back.

No we can pretty much drive it year round here in Dallas except on bad weather days when we carpool in our old 89 Maxima.

Shock absorber of all things. Simple thing. Nationwide back-order. I'm trying to talk my insruance company into springing for an aftermarket coilover set.

Talking Ditto on withdrawal

I put my Z up about 3 weeks ago. Can't stand it. My winter RAT is a 98 OLDS Regency Elite. Can you say BOAT? Door handles scrape the road on a turn in this thing! We had 1 day of some warm temps and I jumped in the Z. I drove 10 miles away just to get gas. Man did that feel good...
