Default OK, that's it....

Hello 350z.com:

I've been waiting/thinking/saving long enough.

I'm buying my Z.

Whether I can afford it or not, in the long run you only live once and I might as well drive what I want. Screw being frugal. There's no better time than now.

I can't wait.

BTW, my problem is that I own a great car, it's payed off, I've put tons of money into mods, it handles better than anything I've driven save maybe that 2002 911 Turbo, but in the end it won't be able to handle the power I will want it to. It's FWD. I want 400HP eventually. So the 1997 Prelude Type SH has to go.
All I want for Christmas is a 2004 350Z. Make mine an Enthusiast 6MT in Silverstone with Navi. Throw on a Nismo wing. Get some nice 18's or 19's with some 255mm+ front and 275+ rear tires. Decide on suspension upgrades in 6 mos. to a year. Decide on GReddy, Dream Works or maybe Stillen for the power ASAP. Then I'll be happy, right? Any comments or advice is welcome.

Hi:

Word of advice - that's a very irresponsible/unsafe attitude to have. Putting yourself into a debt hole at your age (assuming you're pretty young) that you may not be able to climb out of isn't a smart thing to do. If you can't afford the payments or the associated costs of owning a new car (insurance, maintenance, gas), then WAIT. It sucks, but it's better for you (and society in general) in the long run.

BTW, my problem is that I own a great car, it's payed off, I've put tons of money into mods, it handles better than anything I've driven save maybe that 2002 911 Turbo, but in the end it won't be able to handle the power I will want it to.
You want people to give it to you straight, so here it is. It sounds like you're already in a pretty good situation where you have a car, and a well-performing one at that. That's already a lot more than what a lot of people have. So you can afford to be patient. You haven't given us a lot of details about your financial situation, so in all honesty it's a little tough to comment, but I WILL guarantee you that if you get into buying a new car with the "screw the future, I'm living for today" mindset, you're going to hurt yourself bigtime. And soon you'll be regretting why you jumped the gun.

Give it some patience, thought, and most important, planning, before buying a $30000+ car. It's not something you can be impulsive about. Good luck.

As for 400hp, (at the wheels?) That's going to get pretty expensive...it can be done though, just check out skidazzle's ride! (prices are coming down as more kits come out)

Anyways, be irresponsible and happy, I say get it now!!

Good luck.

sometimes it's ok to be a bit less frugal but just make sure your frugal enough that mr. repo man doesn't come take your baby away.

Thanks for the concern guys, but I can probably afford more. I'm very conservative with spending money.

You sound like me just a few months ago. I was in your shoes early this year and went ahead and 'lived for the moment'......

Regretfully, as much as I love this car (Z), I screwed myself...... Well screwed is a little harsh, more like delayed myself.....

Affording this car isn't the issue for me, but, if i had stayed with my original plans I'd already have a paid off car (modded 2001 Acura CL) and well on my way to purchasing a house.... But now with this new car, seems like I'm starting all over again.... sigh***

Anyways, FWIW, keep what you have and think long run.... Pimp car is cool now, but owning your own house is better now and for the future.......

*damn, wish I woulda got this advice back then, o'well. c'ya on the road*

I got my '03 @ MSRP back in Feb., coulda got a better deal but I had a big case of the 'gottahaveits'..... I'm sure you can get it below MSRP depending on your negotiating skills..... Are you getting a coupe or roadster?

Coupe. I don't think the roadster looks as good as it could have, but the roofline is so important to the Z's look. Plus, it's cheaper.

Default You only live once

It is true that you only live once, but that life can be really long and suck alot if you live it in debt.

part your car out, revert it as much back to stock as you have the peices to do. then sell off the parts seperate. a modified car will yeild less if anything different from normal retail.
